Will do when the weather cleans up a bit. It's been too foggy and the sky is blah --Orestek (talk) 07:58, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Jake1.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Jake1.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:36, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Panhandle trip

I'll be taking a long weekend trip through the Panhandle in about a month. Any pics you want me to get? I'll see what I can fit in. Please to reply here. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 00:43, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Don't like it. Live 2 minutes from that site, will get a new and better pic. That's all. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:10, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Your own fair-use rationale says it's replaceable by a free image. So fair-use doesn't run. Please stop removing this tag. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 15:26, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

(ec)With respect, that's not the point. It can be replaced by you creating your own map in Inkscape. I cannot comment on the relative ease of this, but it's not impossible. Therefore, the tag stays. Example: I wanted to put a picture of Lalla Ward on her article, but could not find a free one on the web. However, I could drive to Oxford, about 60 miles away, knock on her door, and ask her for one, or take one at a public function. The fact that it would cost me a significant amount of money and time to do this is irrelevant; it's possible. Therefore your argument is incorrect. Delete the tag again, and you will be blocked for disruption, although I'd prefer you to understand fair-use policy. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 15:44, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
I have reviewed the rationale and I concur, the image is indeed replaceable by a free image, and is therefore unsuited for Wikipedia. -- lucasbfr talk 15:41, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Note that there's an important distinction between replaceable and replaced. The free image need not exist if it can be created. --NE2 15:44, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

  • You say: "Can be made" doesn't mean "is available." Quite true. However, the policy is "can be made", not "is available", or is my example not clear enough? You are the only one here who isn't getting the distinction. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 15:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

The line we use is "can be made", not "is available". --NE2 15:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I hate to respond on my own talk page, but the promise of a replacement that won't come justfies keeping the existing image. ----DanTD (talk) 15:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Not per WP:FU or even fair use law, which is looser. --NE2 16:10, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Why would we need "evidence" on Wikipedia that it was to be extended? Find a reliable source that says it (like this map), cite it, and there you are. References don't need to be on Wikipedia, and are usually not. --NE2 16:15, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't know what you're talking about. Cite the publisher, name of map, and year. That's all you need. Optionally add a sentence like the one I wrote for you on the image description page. It's not hard. --NE2 16:31, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
What? Take the map, open it up, and get the year. If it doesn't have one, I guess you can say "undated". Then in the ref tag describe what's on the map if you want. --NE2 16:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Read WP:NFCC#1 now. --NE2 16:23, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

You ased whether this includes the train station - it doesn't. --NE2 15:33, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
