Editing Wikipedia =
For your information, my attempt at an edit was not cut and pasted from another source. I am attempting to make available a simple formula for enclosed area of an ellipse which is more general than the common one. I got as far as I could and put in references to the figure and citation as placeholders till I could get back to the job, since I was uncertain how to save my changes without actually applying them. Can I get back to what I already did, or do I have to start from scratch?
I have never tried to edit Wikipedia before, but I am fairly tech-savvy and fluent in Latex. The documentation on how to edit Wikipedia is among the worst I have encountered in my (approx 60 years) of computing experience. Bernard Gottschalk (talk) 13:50, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I have replied on your own Talk page. Apologies, and thank you!

Royal Stars
Hi! Thanks for the reminder for Royal Stars. I honestly haven't found any reliable sources -- most, in fact, seem to relate to Astrology and that is a very difficult topic to find reliable sources in (as you probably very well know having an interest in Astronomy). I tried posting in the WikiProject Iran talk forums to see if anyone had come across mention of this in any historical Persian works, but that didn't yield any answers. I think for the time being my hopes for actually expanding that article with sources have hit a dead end. SkarmCA (talk) 15:04, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Updates
Hello Pierre, I see that you are still in Wiki. You probably already have heard on the grapevine and thus know that Pascual and Sara's Empremerie en Gros went bankrupt some time early in the summer of 2009 (if not 2008), but I'm telling you just in case you did not get wind of this. As a Pheonix out of the ashes arose Msdiaplus (or Media Plus?) with a numbered federal registration/incorporation. A clever lawyer fixed everything and Antje is now the head and owner of the new outfit. Pascal takes care of the distribution van drivers and Sara is the receptionist. the printion operation is on a reduced scale. Unlike Pascual, Antje does not keep on printing for clients who don't pay. As a matter of fact cients now have to make a downpayment that is suffieciently large that it does not hurt too much if a client refuses to pay because the job is "not satifactory". Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:01, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Hello, in 2008 you added the Saint-Léonard Tower to this list. I am having difficulty finding references regarding this tower. Could you please add its location and/or relevant links to the page in question?
Thank you very much, - Montréalais (talk) 00:54, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Update: No need to worry. I located a photograph of the tower, and based on that identified its former location and confirmed that it no longer exists. - Montréalais (talk) 01:09, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Stated ages of inter- (trans-?)stellar events
Your clarifying talk contrib some years ago, re Orion Nebula, is priceless to me, and i wish i could figure out how to render your point accessible as an anchor other than an explicit section title for a sentence or two in an appropriate WP article. E.g., i'd probably edit the final sentence of the lead of Orion Nebula adding a link to it, perhaps,
- They were probably formed one thousand years ago in an unknown violent event.
with the target of that (currently red) link being a Rdr to said anchor.
If i had to rely on my own unsystematic reading, i'd probably add something following that anchor -- perhaps no article offers a better place than does Light-year -- like
- Astronomical records date from well before knowledge of the orders of magnitude of extra-terrestrial distances -- let alone transit times of light between astronomical bodies, relative velocities of galaxies, or relativistic time dilation; even differences between solar and sidereal time probably were little more than curiosities before the Renaissance.[citation needed] Perhaps reflecting this heritage,[citation needed] it remains customary to describe the timing of events, at least beyond the Solar System, as if the time of their occurrence were the date and UTC when their physical influence (propagating at the speed of light) could first reach Earth.[1]
References
- ^ "1,500 light-years away" and "... with their ages estimated to be less than a thousand years since ejection", in "The Delicate Trails of Star Birth",Gemini Observatory, for release on Thursday, March 22, 2007.
Perhaps this has already been handled better than i can envision; perhaps you'd be the right person to spark an interest at the appropriate WikiProject; perhaps you have suggestions for how i might proceed myself. Thanks at least for reading this far!

CielProfond (talk) 02:27, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
- Youppi ! C'est mieux de distinguer ça! Si on les prononce pareil, on malcomprend parfois. 138.229.19.202 (talk) 13:31, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
CielProfond (talk) 01:20, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

J’ai une autre question,《connaissent》, à Montréal, la majorité des gens disent [kɔnɛs] ou [kɔnaɪ̯s]? 138.229.19.202 (talk) 16:26, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Il y a des gens qui disent [kɔnaɪ̯s]? 138.229.19.202 (talk) 13:49, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
