John Aimers

Hi, I see several months ago you added John Aimers to categories on Canadian Roman Catholics and Anglican converts to Roman Catholicism. Do you have any sources to back that up? Wellington Bay (talk) 05:35, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure I can easily find some. He's one of the most prominent members of the Canadian ordinariate. I will follow up! Carolynparrishfan (talk) 15:16, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see you originally posted the information about his Anglican activities some time ago so I guess you probably have some personal knowledge about whether his religious affiliations have changed over time - but unfortunately knowing something is true isn't enough, we need some sort of verifiable evidence. Wellington Bay (talk) 22:20, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understand that. As I said, I will dig up a link. (And no, as it happens, I don't have any kind of inside track here).Carolynparrishfan (talk) Carolynparrishfan (talk) 22:47, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I reverted your undiscussed move of Anglican Diocese of Canada to Anglican Diocese of Canada (Anglican Church in North America). Per WP:PRECISION, there is no need for a disambiguator since there is no other entity under the name "Anglican Diocese of Canada". The current title reflects the principles of WP:AT: it is short, natural, distinguishable and recognizable; and resembles titles for similar articles. However, I added a hatnote to the article to provide extra clarity for any reader wondering about the relationship with the Anglican Church of Canada. If you still think it should be moved, please list it at WP:PCM as a potentially controversial move and I'd appreciate a ping since I am planning to take a partial wikibreak this month. Thanks! I mean, it's true that there is no other single entity called the "Anglican Diocese of Canada"; rather, there are several Anglican dioceses in Canada. The new name seems designed to foment confusion, but if others think the move is potentially controversial, I am content with the hatnote. Carolynparrishfan (talk) 14:41, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Potentially controversial" just means someone could reasonably disagree with the move (which I do). I also adjusted the hatnote to add the list of ACoC dioceses to further assist readers. Thanks for the reply! Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:50, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I read it, the word "reasonably" suggests that an individual Wikipedian objecting doesn't in and of itself meet the threshold. But as I've said, I won't at this stage challenge your preference for a "softer" disambiguation, without prejudice to the substance of the question.
