Buddhist articles
Hello, I saw your edits to Jaffna, Batticalao and Trincomalee. What we need is comprehensive main articles that are fully referenced and cited and neutral on the Buddhist heritage of these areas. For starters we need an article on Buddhist archeological sites in Jaffna. This can refer to the Kandarodai ruins, Vallipuram Buddha statute, Buddhist ruins in the island of Delft (knowm as Vediarasan kottai) and surviving Buddhist temples such as Nagavihare in the Jaffna city and Nagadvipa. If you can find good sources on these and write a encyclopedic article, it will be of great help. Then you can link it to the main article about Jaffna under the history section. Thanks RaveenS 13:34, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Place names
I am glad you want to be a contributor to Wikipedia. Your article Place-names in North and Eastern province (Sri Lanka) is a good starting point. But it still needs to be wikified that is if it needs to be neutral you have to give all view points where available and properly cite it under references section (which you don’t have yet). Also my suggestion would be to sub divide the article by district i.e Jaffna, Mannar.... and pick 4 of 5 examples in each district and explain in detail like an encyclopedia article would based on citations. So any one coming to Wikipedia will get a basic understanding of these etymologies. Also don’t create sockpuppets like Sebatian Kanagsingam or something, first he is a living person so you cant impersonate him, second it is against the Wikipedia law and you can be banned for such behavior. I want to encourage you to keep doing what you are doing rather than to discourage, but I want you to follow the WP rules that way we can all benefit by your contributions. ThanksRaveenS 21:06, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- I edited your creation to be a as much as neutral and without original research. You can keep adding more references to make it more nuetrall. I also previously created List of islands of Sri Lanka Inwhich I tried to give the Sinhalese names of these Islands, can you provide proper references to them please. RaveenS 14:33, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Now it is done very well indeed, although some may argue it does not have the other view point how ever fringe it might be. For the sake of sanity in Wikipedia about Sri Lankan articles, when you have time look for those articles and add the reference about it too. You had removed a reference about Vallipura gold plate that had a different point of view. It might be a good reference to leave in to avoid future edit wars.
- My suggestion to may be to link this article to articles about Jaffna, Batticalao as link rather under the Sinhala etymology section rather than to argue about etymology of the place name in the article about Jaffna, Batticalao etc in the article itself. That was my aim in asking you to write an article of this nature. Overall a good job.
- See what I did with Batticaloa article, i remove commentary but linked the Mada Kalapuwa etymology to the article you created. You can do the same in Jaffna, Trincomalee, Mannar etc so that who ever is interested in the Sinhalese etymology of the place name can come to your article.RaveenS 00:39, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

- Hi there; just a friendly reminder that we really need your input on the proposal being discussed here. Without it, we can't craft a solution which is acceptable to everyone, and without indicating your willingness to go along with a solution, the whole process could fail. Seeems OK
From Bodhi_Dhana
I just came in tonight (1.Nov.07) and it seems a long discussion had gone on. Since I tend to work independently, I hadn't known about all these issues. Anyway I have looked at the final conclusion. They seem to be a set of fairely straight-forward etiquette rules which I think I have observed in any case. So I have no problem with all this. I also learned a few things by quickly glancing thorugh all this. For example, I remember reading that Taprobanus had claimed to be a German, and I even replied him in German on one occassion. I think life would be really simple if people just be themselves and not present a masquarade. We all have biases and opinions, and I don't see any harm in that. There is no such thing as "objective truth". So we have to present the facts as we see it, with reputed sources to support our views, and I hope, these rules may help.Bodhi dhana 00:25, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Dude, where did I claim to be a German ? do you have the diff's or are you confusing me with User:SebastianHelm who is a German and a good friend of mine and was very active in SL specific articles. This is enough for our Kawazaki guy, now he would want a checkuser done on me with the German dude .Taprobanus 00:45, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Als there are other Germans interested in you line of work too, like Krankman etc, please take back your accusation unless you can substantiate with evidence. I give you the benefit of doubt because you are not a bad person simply confused. Thanks Taprobanus 13:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I think it was Krankman - now that you remind me, he had written something about Tamil and Sinhala etymologies and made the same well-known errors that are found in Mudliyar G's Comprehensive grammar rom the 19th century.Bodhi dhana 15:04, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Machan, I have reverted it back to your one. The present article was a mess and carrying so many false information, and I don't think we should let such a vandalism to continue. The article had no references and written in such a comical way, which only bring laughter to people who actually know about our country. I strongly believe wikipedia should be a base for learning ,and to tolerate such POV pushing only defame the good name of wikipedia. keep up the good work buddy. And If you need any input in historical articles let me know. I have a couple of books written by Paranavitharana, about inscriptions of Ceylon, and my library has really good books written of our country. Hope we can make better historical articles. Speedy deletion of Vidyodya University
A tag has been placed on Vidyodya University requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Place names in North and East of Sri Lanka
Hello Bodhi dhana!
I'm currently very busy off-Wiki, but I do occasionally look at WT:SLR. So I became aware of the discussion of the Place names in North and East of Sri Lanka. I'm not happy about how the discussion has been moved back and forward between three different pages, but since it now ended up at WT:SLR, I would like to give it a good home there. Currently, the arguments of the Tamil side are very strong. For a balanced discussion, I really want to know your side of the story. Is there anything I can do to help you fairly represent your side? Please feel free to send me confidendial e-mail; I promise, you won't regret it.
I only now noticed that Talk:Sri Lankan place name etymology begins with "Hi Sebastian, [...] - Bodhi". If that was written by you, I'm sorry that I didn't notice that before. Is it still relevant? Sebastian (talk) 17:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Talk:Sri Lankan placename etymology
Hi,
I have been asked by Taprobanus to take a look at the current discussion at Talk:Sri Lankan placename etymology#Comments by Bodhi Dhana and to offer a comment.
With regard to the appropriate location for the discussion (an issue raised by Taprobanus on the talk page), I think that is a matter best left to the active participants in the discussion. Regardless of where it is held, I hope that an amicable resolution can be reached among the editors of the article; please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
With regard to your comment, I would like to ask you to consider retracting part of point 1. Many SLR editors have specific political leanings, but having political leanings does not automatically hinder good-faith editing. Thus, we should focus on the content of contributions and avoid commenting on the intentions of editors, which is ultimately something about which we can only speculate (also see Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation#Citing and reporting of incidents).
Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 16:35, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Sri Lankan Tamil Nationalism
Thanks for the edit on the above article. However, I have a concern about this edit. A whole lot of content is added to the lead of the article. This edit violates WP:LEAD because you changed a lead that summarized the article and instead wrote some new things on the lead. I like the addition but it does not belong in the lead as lead is supposed to summarize the article and not introduce new content that is not in the Body of the article. If you don't mind I will undo the current lead and then you can expand the article's body and after this we can summarize the article to it's (then current) version. Watchdogb (talk) 03:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Of course ! Take all the time you want. I have a request thought - please do not delete any of the current body when you do expand. I am only requesting this because I noticed that couple of sources that you used a lot for the lead are older ones. Thanks Watchdogb (talk) 01:48, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Please stay on topic
I am not quite sure what to make of your contribution at Restarting this discussion from what's most important: In the same breath with which you agreed to start with the question "what should the article contain" you started another discussion about something that has nothing to do with the headline nor with the proposed first topic. I really don't get it. I specifically proposed that question, and put it before the topic that Taprobanus wanted to discuss first, because you were not happy about the article content, and I wanted to give you a chance to fairly present your point. Please respect this and stay on topic from now on. Before you save a page, please look at the preview and ask yourself: "Does this fit under the headline?" If not, I recommend instead saving it in a text file on your computer for later. Sebastian (talk) 09:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for being the first who wrote his statement there. Unfortunately, I still see the same problem. Believe me, my interest as a mediator on SLR is that both sides understand each other. While I realize that the headline I chose was not foolproof because it can be interpreted to mean any level of detail, I am still puzzled why you keep digressing so extensively. I don't see how it could possibly help you achieve your main point if you dedicate 80% of your message to detail questions such as if there should be a hyphen, or which individual sources should be used. Because I'm afraid that this level of detail diminishes the chances for reaching a consensus, I decided to gray out the part that is off topic for now. I mean this as a reminder for everybody to stay on topic; not as censorship. I sincerely hope this doesn't discourage you to contribute, and I encourage you to bring these detail questions up once the fundamental questions are resolved. Sebastian (talk) 05:15, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
On a related note, please also give your sections meaningful names. When you start sections, please don't just call them "note by Bodhi Dhana". This is important for three reasons: (1) You're missing out on a chance to make your point because most readers will not be interested in such a headline. (2) You're inciting other editors to focus on the editor, not on the content, which violates the first rule of Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. (3) It would make a better impression of your writing skills if you showed that you can write concisely, which begins with clear and pertinent headlines. Sebastian (talk) 07:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I am sorry that I didn't understand what you had in mind. Even now things are not clear. When you said let's begin, I assumed that we need to begin the article. So I tried to define what material and what structure it should contain. I suggested a reasonable title, and there we need to immediately address whether it should be "placenames", place-names", "place names" (or what ever) etc. So I was going logically. Then I addrsesed the question of whether we need separate sections (Sinhala, tamil, Hybrid), as that seemed to be a matter of contention. I suggested that etymology is best done via a comparative approach. I offered to write a short draft. Perhaps you have a plan in mind.Bodhi dhana (talk) 13:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Sri Lanka place names research chronologically
Hi Bodhi,
I find the section on research in Sri Lanka a bit hard to understand because it jumps back and forth in time, from the 1920's to the 60's and back to 1948. You seem to be the person most familiar with the literature. Do you think it would be possible for you to give a strictly chronological account of all the sources? Hi. I deleted some material you added to DDT sourced to the Lyndon LaRouche conspiracy theory site 21st Century Technology. Okra
Hello. On my talk page, you said: Can you justify your reversal of my edit on Okra?
- I made this revert because the content is not easy to define the subject of okra, is not a reliable English source, and the content is mostly about the quackery of traditional medicine, so is misleading and inappropriate for the encyclopedia and for defining etymology. A simpler reference was provided here. --Zefr (talk) 04:51, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Thank you. when you say "is not a reliable English source", WHAT is not a reliable Englsuh source?Bodhi dhana (talk)Bodhi_dhana
- This source, although extensive and no doubt considerable work for the author, is not a WP:SCIRS source, as it is not peer-reviewed, used in a secondary application per WP:SECONDARY, or cited in a reliable review per WP:MEDREV; and it presents mostly quackery of traditional medicine. This source is one person's blog, WP:NOTBLOG, and the Sharma reference used is not a strong secondary source. --Zefr (talk) 15:27, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
