Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contribution(s). I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top. They are not a general discussion forum about the article's topic or any other topic. If you have questions or ideas and are not sure where to post them, consider asking at the Teahouse. Thanks. Tistgħu tgħiduli x'hinu jiġġri għawnhekk ?
The Maltese have invented the mythical question 'Tistgħu tgħiduli x'hinu jiġġri għawnhekk ?' translated as ' can you tell me what is happening here ?'. This is a quasi-mythical question first asked by a humble television journalist expert in Malta in March 2013. It has gained importance as a socio-anthropologic strategy to ask a semi-rhetorical question to emphasize the emptiness/inadequacy of an on-going activity at a certain place.
The procedure for asking the question has been publicized in the following procedural code of ethics:
- 1) You enter the gate of a front garden of a private residence while being filmed by your camera person.
- 2) You walk through the front garden avoiding any distraction
- 3) You open the front door (knowing that it is unlocked)
- 4) You enter the hallway and ask into the microphone the semi-mythical question. Then you trust the microphone towards the nearest person to elicit a response from him/her.
The film 'Tistgħu tgħiduli x'hinu jiġġri għawnhekk ?' was viewed throughout June 2013 on Youtube by the majority (>50%) of the poppulation as a source of entertainment.
Lou Bondi is the hero in this film. On the evening of election day 2013, Daphney ignores strict orders by the police not to post anything on her facebook account regarding the elections which where going to be held the day after. As soon as she posts something on facebook regarding the elections, the police raid her house and are about to arrest her. However, journalist Lou Bondi enters the scene and asks the semi-mythical question on camera. This disturbs the police investigations which take on an added on air twist. the full video is available on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJKhCkmpdP0.
The film starts with Lou Bondi entering the front garden of a private residence. He courageously ignores the dogs barking and continues walking with a hurried, serious step towards the door of a private residence. He opens the door and enters the hall way and asks the semi-mythical question.
The police officer answers: "I am a police inspector"
LOU: "Why are you here, can you tell me ?
Inspector: " I don't think that the media should be involved in this matter, we are here in a private house, I don't think that media should be involved in this manner "
LOU: " But what is the function of the police here ? "
Inspetor: "With all due respect, I don't have to give any information to the media regarding an independent person who is not public".
LOU is not taken aback by such a prompt reply and immediately asks back:
"Who is not public?"
