File source problem with File:What is Brow Monument Forest Service Information sign.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:What is Brow Monument Forest Service Information sign.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Using talk pages

Thanks for the email! I'm replying here because using talk pages is better than emails; this is because it's easier to use, not because there's something wrong with using email. To leave a note for someone on a talk page, go to that page and click the new section button (it says "New Section", up in the top right near the search box), write the subject line of the comment in the "Subject/headline" box (this is comparable to the "a question on copyright for a United States Govt, department of Interior informational sign" header that you left at WP:MCQ), and then write your question or comment in the main box. You may benefit from reading Help:Introduction to talk pages and from watching the video at Help:Using talk pages. I'm on break at work right now and can't reply to your comments about the historic site, but I'll reply when I'm able. Nyttend (talk) 17:34, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yes I did remove one image as I thought there were plenty, but since you feel it adds to the article I've put it back. Regards, Riggr Mortis (talk) 04:34, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A bowl of strawberries for you!

Nice work on Brow Monument and Brow Monument Trail. Excellent work for a first article. SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:22, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BTW

BTW, are you familiar with Wikipedia:Did you know? It applies to articles newly created in the last five days, so if you are interested, you should apply by tomorrow (it takes many days to process, but that's OK).--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:25, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can't help (work pressure weighing in, but I asked an expert if he would have a minute to help you out.)--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:43, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and Welcome Abearfellow! See User_talk:PumpkinSky#DYK_help.3F. Sphilbrick asked me to help. I work DYK and NRHP, among other areas. I'll nom the article for you at DYK and put the link here. I'm having trouble finding reliable sources (RS) on this. Where did you get all this info? The article needs more RSs. If you go to my talk page, look at the 6th link from the top. It's called "NRHP Query". Click it, fill in the info you seek per the directions, and it gives you great wiki syntax for any NRHP. It's very reliable. FYK that site you used Nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com is not considered reliable due to multiple errors in it and should not be used. Also, the image of the geo disc is being challenged on Commons so you should go see what's up and fix it so it doesn't get deleted. I've set a watch on your page so we can all talk here. Go to Template talk:Did you know to nominate an article for DYK (for this article I'm doing it for you). Your particular nomination is at Template:Did you know nominations/Brow Monument and Brow Monument Trail in the Sep 18 section. Keep an eye on it and ask us if you have questions. @Sphil -- there's a thread about this on my talkpage too.PumpkinSky talk 09:54, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Moved the DYK nom to Sep 13. It's supposed to be the day the article was created or moved to main space, not the day of the nom. My goof.PumpkinSky talk 11:26, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

thanks. i sent the pdf question over to someone at commons. they (jmabel) have responded that the whole collection can be uploaded there if it turns out to be all federal government public domain information. I am going to check on that, let him/her confirm it, and if it turns out to be public domain, i can then include it as both a reference and a link within the Brow monument article. I will keep you informed as to my progress. thanks again for your help bpolkAbearfellow (talk) 17:46, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd upload it at Commons

Re: File:What is Brow Monument Forest Service Information sign.jpg.

It looks to me like you uploaded it to Wikipedia rather than Commons. then somebody deleted it because of

  • no CC-BY-SA licesnse, or
  • concerns of the copyright status of the sign.

Doing a request for undeletion on Wikipedia might be complicated, so I'd first try to upload it at Commons. If you know the forest services tag (that will let folks know that the sign is public domain) then please include that. I'd also explain the sign is from the US Forest Service in the description.

Sometimes our rules get too complicated! If that doesn't work please let me know.

Hope this helps.

See here for the editing.
Also I'd put '''For photograph''' {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}}
on the photo at Commons. Somebody wanted two licensing statements, One for the marker itself (you've now done that - but I can't believe they needed to ask for it) and also one for the photo (which only you can give - and you need to put on) Smallbones(smalltalk) 20:52, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
i went out and added the "for photograph" license information for all of the photos there. thanksAbearfellow (talk)
