Phil Cooke photo

Hello Feydey. I asked Phil Cooke to send through a Creative Commons permission on the photo. I am pretty sure he emailed it. How can I make sure that the permission was received so that the photo doesn't get removed? Thank you for your help. Jeremiah (talk) 20:31, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Glass Bees image deletion

Hi Feydey,

I've noticed that you just deleted an image of the cover for Glass Bees I uploaded. Can you undo this, please? The image is currently on Wikimedia Commons, but I've nominated it for deletion because I'm pretty sure it's not yet public domain, so I expect it will be vanishing fairly soon and I don't want the Glass Bees article to be without an image. Sorry for all the confusion - wikimedia commons is something I'm just figuring out how to use, and this learning process unfortunately entails things like uploading an image there only to nominate it for deletion the next day... Sindinero (talk) 13:58, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Let us see what happens. Give me a note if it is deleted on Commons. feydey (talk) 14:01, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. If it's deleted there, I'll re-upload it to Wikipedia w/ fair use rationale. Sindinero (talk) 14:05, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey..

Yeah, i just realised my errors. I thought pictures with "some right reserved" is OK to be uploaded to wikipedia. I should be more precise next time.

Hello

Just checking to see if I met standards on my File:Lies-Stories.jpg article... Sorry for the trouble. I've been on this site for a long time, but I still act like a noob =/ MySummerJob (talk) 01:36, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that you deleted a file from my wikipedia entry SIMON_BRITTON for copyright violation. But it does not violate any copyright laws. I assume you are from the USA and that is probably why you thought it did (despite my notes stating it was free use).

But please understand that in the UK, News when Broadcast become Public Domain - it's just standard. The photograph was from BBC news, and is public domain - free use for anyone.

I am hesitant to upload it again until I know that you aren't going to delete it again... but please, do let me know that you understand that any BBC photos are all 100% public domain - I need to put that photo back up, really soon.

Thanks. Calence (talk) 05:24, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey Bro I spoke with BBC news and they said indeed, screen captures and anything related are public domain. Can you please cite your source that says they are not? Because they absolutely 100% are no doubt about it - please please do the research. You're horribly mistaken - call them yourself if you need to. It is PUBLIC DOMAIN. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Calence (talk • contribs) 09:30, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Please remove your notes to have my other images deleted - they are credited now including websites and emails for the photographers if you need to verify that they are free to use by anyone.

And please check with BBC directly - because your information is incorrect. I can have the paperwork to you directly from them if need be but you can call them yourself, it will be faster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Calence (talk • contribs) 09:36, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Richmond Ca

Hello Feyday,

I have noticed that less and less is editable on Wikipedia. Hmmmm. Maybe that's a good thing, I dunno. Anyhow I went to the Richmond Ca Page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond,_California and noticed there was no information for the mayor Gayle McLaughlin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gayle_McLaughlin. There was previously but I think it was removed. Maybe because she is in the green party. lol. I was wondering if the city section had limited editing and if I could add it. I checked the talk page and didn't see anything on it. Re> Treat Williams Picture

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. As I have found the image under Creative Commons. I see many pictures here being added with no apparent clear source or no source whatsoever, or pictures made from movie stills. Forgive me but I don-t understand why my work is not being accepted. I was told in the live help section that all images found under Creative Commons pages could be used. Unless I pay $15000 for an annual license I will never be able to use any image. What I am trying to do is contribute to Wikipedia by adding images that will allow readers to recognize people listed in articles. Again, I have also mentioned Fair Use in my description.

Could you at least indicate which sources are accepted and which are not? Thank you again.

Hi Feydey,

I am writing regarding File:Bruce Doolin Henderson.jpg. Before uploading it I asked about it Wikipedia:Media copyright questions#Bruce Henderson photo, but I guess I miss something else. CC License?

Hi Feydey, I'm a little confused. I recently uploaded a file, LucíaPérez.jpg, that had a CC license, which I identified on the image's page here. I also provided the link to the original source, which has a copy of the CC license and clearly states that the image can be reproduced. Why, then, did you delete the file and call it an unambiguous copyright violation? I assume that either I misunderstand something about the CC license or that you've made an error. I'll be the first to admit that I know only a little about the image process on here and that I've probably made a mistake, but I think you've been a little harsh in calling my upload an unambiguous copyright violation. If any violation was that explicit and clear, I wouldn't have uploaded the file. It's not immediately clear to me why an image with a CC license isn't okay, especially because attribution was provided on the image page. I made sure that was done according to the wording of the license on the image's source page. Can you please clear this up for me? I'd like to better understand (a) this situation, and (b) the policy (or policies) that caused this problem. Thanks for reading. Armadillopteryxtalk 09:55, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Please can I ask your help. I have just uploaded two photos File:Spirit.png and File:Cirque.png which you have flagged up as having no proof of copyright permission. I suspect the same will be true of File:Mirror.png. I am unsure where I am going wrong. I sent written, signed permission of copyright release to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org on 15/06/11 and was hoping this would have resolved this issue. Should I be posting the copyright permission somewhere? I relaly would appreciate your help in resolving this. Thanks--Maggiemorgan1969 (talk) 13:55, 20 June 2011 (UTC) Thank you for the reply. Q?

Hello, I'm a bit confused about the issue of copyright and photography on wikipedia. Maybe there's a way around it in my particular situation but probably not so I will just end up not using the photos I wanted. Anyway, the situation:

my article is about a cultural event at a university, dating back almost three decades. From the 80s, there is only one photographer whose work has survived to this day, we (people who research the event) have asked for permission to use his pictures before, he's almost impossible to get a hold of (artsy and lives somewhere in the middle of nowhere...). A few years back I asked the people who gave me the pictures, who participated in the event themselves in the 80s to ask the photographer, since they knew him, if I could use them in an article. The answer was yes (I hope). Then our graphic designers decided to use the imagery as part of the entire print design of that years event. They either couldn't get a hold of him or did and couldn't get a straight answer... But ended up going with their idea anyway. There was no scandal, no one yelled at us or sued us. Since copyright laws are loose in Estonia (concerning students' work) and there was no such thing as copyright in the USSR at all (they didn't pay anyone any royalties, ever,- composers, artist, writers...) and these earlier pictures were taking during that time, I thought maybe there's a way of classifying them as archive material which the university allows to use (it's in their interest to promote both the school and the event in whichever medium possible). Is there any copyright label that would suit these photos?

The newer photographs, from the 90s and 21st century, are a bit tricky too. First of all, the ones from the 90s- I have no idea who took them. I found them in an old photo album at the design department and they said I could use them. No one has ever really claimed ownership of those. The deal with photographers both then and now is that they are allowed by the event to come and take pictures IF they in turn allow the orgaziers of the event to use those images in whatever way they like- press releases, websites, social networks... Wikipedia. But again, I haven't personally taken them so which copyright label should I use? In either case- knowing the name of the photographer and not (in the last case, probably means I can't use them, right?)?

Hope you can help, thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ccchnl (talk • contribs) 11:50, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

RE: Tori Amos image

Hey there, I received your message. Sorry about the confusion - I'm not that schooled on wiki. However, I replaced the image which I had initially taken from the artists site with a lo-res version from a music site. I've also categorized it as "an album cover". I hope all is clear now :)

File copyright problem with File:Srem_view.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Srem_view.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Photo Permission Question

Hello, I saw that you sent me a question regarding a photo used with permission from the owner, Jeremy Linn. I have sent the requested email (the owner emailed me his permission to use the file) to the indicated address and added a "OTRS pending" tag to the photo. I wanted to let you know that it should be sufficient to remove all doubt of its fair use status. Thank you for taking the time to investigate this issue and bring to light the lack of proof that is required to post such photos. I thought the citation of the fact the owner had released the rights was enough, I did not know that I had to submit his email to me to prove he had done so. File source problem with File:Larcheboatname.jpeg

Thank you for your advice re: the File source problem with File:Larcheboatname.jpeg. I am an infrequent editor on wikipedia and have never uploaded an image until now. Hopefully, the info I have provided in response to your comment is satisfactory. If there's something else I need to add, I would appreciate any further advice you may have.Njodonnell (talk) 15:25, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

File:Raspberry Pi Logo.svg

Hi. It'd be great if you could please move File talk:Raspberry Pi Logo.svg back to File talk:Raspberry pi logo.png. The deleted page includes this contest for deletion of the PNG file. I now wish I'd just tagged the new page, rather than moving it! Thanks. --16:34, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Please help me

Hi Feydey,

I'm a marketing person from Elsevier company and am creating 2 newsletter pages on Wikipedia. Could you please don't dele my images uploaded?? I have put a lot of time on adding the license description on the code. I don't know why my images always got deleted. It does really waste a lot of my time. Could you please let me know what information I should add in my license description, which make my images retain? Please let me know. Thank you so much!

Help me please

Hi Feydey,

I'm a marketing person at Elsevier. May I ask help from you? Now I'm trying to create a page for our free newsletter on Wikipedia. I have added the license information in my code by following your template required. All the images are from my company and I have put the original links here, but I don't know why my images got deleted always. I have tried several license tags under the categories, but each of them didn’t work for me. I would highly appreciate it if you could let me know what information I should provide or which license tag is better for me to follow. Thank you so much.

Hello, Feyday. I saw your note requesting copyright permission for the photo referenced above. We sent this to permissions-en@wikimedia.org on March 3, 2011 from the email address bradleyfisher@mac.com. Did you see this submission? I'm copying it below. It apparently met the requirement at the time. But if not, let me know if we need to follow up with the boilerplate permission form referenced in your message, or something else.

Regards,

Brad

Deletion of Claudia Lee photo

Why did you delete the photo of actress Claudia Lee? I clearly indicated that there are no copyright restrictions on the photo. What else do I need to do? Frdndrsn (talk) 22:44, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Islamic Rage boy photo

Why did you delete it? I made it MYSELF? :| I have proof in the form of unedited Corel file too. I'm the copyright holder. watercolor121
