About me
- I am a software engineer with Pelco (by Schneider Electric) and I oversee ongoing firmware support for security cameras and devices developed by other vendors that we sell as part of our product line. I have also been a ScrumMaster for the development of some Pelco embedded firmware.
- I am a certified ScrumMaster and am passionate about creating high quality software in a highly productive team.
- I have been a project manager and ScrumMaster for Spectra Logic Corporation.
- I am a Christian and therefore a follower of Jesus Christ. My wife and I attend the [Town Church] of Fort Collins[[1]].
- I am a husband of one and a father of three. If you met my kids, you would probably like them. I do. I wish all parents had the kind of relationship with their kids as I have with mine. One is a Java web programmer for Campus Crusade for Christ in Orlando. Our second works for Target Corporation in Fort Collins. The youngest is working for Summit Cove, a vacation property management firm in Keystone, Colorado. My lovely wife is a retired kindergarten teacher at Heritage Christian Academy [[2]] and currently fills the role of grandmother, mentor, and chief gardener.
- I like camping and the outdoors. My wife and I own a Coleman Mesa fold-up trailer and enjoy camping in Colorado and Wyoming. We are also fly fisherpeople. So far, we do more fishing than we do catching. But it is fun and we have caught a few.
- I grew up in Lawndale, California, attended public schools, and graduated from Lawndale High School. I graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Electronics Engineering and from Stanford with a MS in Electrical Engineering.
- I was in Cub and Boy Scouts, having achieved the rank of Star Scout (see Ranks in the Boy Scouts of America). I was also an Explorer (which is now called Varsity Scout). Both of my parents received the highest award available to volunteers at the local level - the Silver Fawn Award for my mom and the Silver Beaver Award for my dad.
- I played a lot of Basketball both growing up and as an adult. I lettered all four years in high school. My playing career ended with knee problems when I turned 50. So now, I run for exercise. I ran a half-marathon in Moab in 2009 [3], another in Las Vegas in 2011, and a third, back in Moab, in 2015.
- My name is Douglas Drees and I like to help people.
