User:Alan Dershowitz (2001 editor)
As noted below, this is not the famous Alan Dershowitz! This is a user page for a 2001 editor who used the name "Alan Dershowitz" as a screen name and shortly afterwards used the username "Alan_D" (now shown on here as Alan D~enwiki; Also see this version of his user page). Many of this user's edits, especially those that were brought here during the mass-import of September 2002, are attributed as "Alan D" or "Alan_D" and those with underlines are not accessible in contributions pages per this bug, but are listed at User:Nemo bis/Bug 323 revisions/rev user zero). As for the user page containing the text below (which was at the title "Alan Dershowitz" because Wikipedia had no namespaces in 2001), it was deleted in April 2002 (at which time only 2002 edits from the then-current Phase II software) were visible) and I, Graham87, have used edits from the August 2001 and March 2002 database dumps to reconstruct it. There is also a user account from 2016 with the username Alan Dershowitz.
Alan, I think you need to move this bio to a different page, and let the more famous Alan Dershowitz have this page. :-) This is, by the way, the first example of this problem (a Wikipedian with a famous name) that we've encountered, unless you want to count a certain KQ, but I just knew it was going to happen sooner or later. I'd suggest something like AlanD... Sorry! And by the way, welcome to Wikipedia! Good work on the Cryptozoology page. --LMS
Sure thing. Can I do this without forgoing my screen name? I'll happily change it if it's necessary however. I'm, not up to date on all the intricacies of wiki.
I did nearly the same thing: I took the name "koyaanisqatsi," after the non-narrative documentary, not knowing that UseModWiki then creates a wiki about me, and that it would confuse the issue once someone write about either topic. All you have to do is go into "preferences" and choose a new screen name; they're case-sensitive, so for instance Alan Dershowitz is distinct from Alan dershoWitz (except in searches, which aren't yet case-sensitive, but that's another matter). --KoyaanisQatsi
It's as easy as going to the preferences page and typing in a new name! KQ, bear in mind that in the new system, there will be no distinction between KoyaanisQatsi and Koyaanisqatsi. :-( I think this is why it's taking the powers that be to install the new system...it will make certain pages disappear, and we've got to solve that problem before we install it. Tricky eh? --LMS
Senior at a small university. Maybe not as impressive as the mental giants that roam the gilded halls of wikipedia, but give me some graduate work before you pass judgement.
I hope I have valuable information to add to the wikipedia. cryptozoology is one of my hobbies, as is art.
I am not the Alan Dershowitz you see on television. Alan Dershowitz
