Talk:Victoria Leigh Soto

The picture is fake

This is the fake picture of Vicki Soto from Time Magazine cover. Her body is poorly photoshop-ed on a pair of legs. The position of the body and legs is impossible.

Funeral Comments

I've tried to rectify the breathtaking one-sidedness of this article by including a reliable and relevant quote in the Funeral Section; comments made by a family friend during a speak at the funeral. It says: "At the funeral, family friend Peter Rusatsky said of Victoria's actions: "any teacher would do it and not blink and just do whatever had to be done to protect those children"." and is fully sourced.

A few people have claimed this to be a POV and so not allowed it the article. I disagree, but if that is the case then shouldn't we remove the following similar points that are throughout the article:

  • Saying she's been "hailed as a hero".
  • Saying a photograph of her sister waiting for news "has been described as "iconic."". (Only ONE source describes this as iconic- Fox News Latino). How is this more relevant than my source-The Daily Mirror.

She is notable because of her heroism, so I don't see that emphasis as being "one-sided." I don't see any problem with the quote, except that I don't see why that is being pulled out or what the point is. It's not an especially notable quote and the person making the quote does not appear to be notable. On balance my vote is "meh." Coretheapple (talk) 21:53, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Neither the comment nor the commenter are notable. Of course a relative or family friend would think of her as a hero. It's simply unencyclopedic. WWGB (talk) 01:41, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the word "hero" is more commonly used to refer to individuals of either gender. Although still in usage "heroine" sounds dated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.31.40.244 (talk) 19:35, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I thought Wikipedia was meant to be informative

You're allowing pages for photoshop creations now? Do we really need the Government confirmation before we take down this page? 69.251.63.224 (talk) 19:01, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, Photoshop creations??--Auric talk 23:09, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

This subject was already discussed and a consensus reached. It was decided that that the subject was notable in her own merits and therefore not to be merged with any other article. See Talk:Victoria Leigh Soto/Archive 1 . Tony the Marine (talk) 05:27, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
