I appreciate that REDD and REDD+ may technically be different porgrammes, but given that one is essentially built on and, according to Wikipedia has been superceded by, the other, I think it would be prudent to discuss these programmes in one article (as the Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation is already doing, running the risk of redundancy).
The coverage of REDD and REDD+ across the two articles is confusing, especially to the uninitiated. I propose that the articles be merged into one that can explain the history and differences etc. between both programmes as a cohesive narrative.
Thanks for joining the conversation @EMsmile. I could try find time to carry it out, although help would be welcomed.
Re: article title I'd suggest "REDD and REDD+" with a redirect from both United Nations REDD Programme and Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation searches to this new article. As I understand it, essentially REDD = the multilateral body responsible for REDD+ and REDD+ = the mitigation approach (developed by UNFCCC), so it would be best to drop the word "Programme" from the title.
Have to give this proposal a week but ping me if you would like me to do the non-thinking first part of the merge Chidgk1 (talk) 15:11, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
