As a main carrier to the Canary islands for middle Europe, Spantax had quite a reputation for its minor incidents and mistakes. After the accidents with fatalities, the german tabloid press ("Bild") jumped on Spantax as the "catastrophe airline" and the reputation of the airline was destroyed. But there were actually good reasons - Spantax pilots managed to *forget* to lower the gear and belly-landed in Frankfurt/Main or to land at the wrong airport (EDHI instead of EDDH), to mention a few of the rather funny incidents, this airline literally managed to make everything go wrong that can go wrong, from flight plans over service to aircraft maintenance. In this article it just looks like some deceased airline like many others, but Spantax was certainly something special in Europe and the subject of many bad (and good) jokes about "never-come-back airlines", the Spantax name was used as a synonym for everything catastrophic here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.39.133.94 (talk) 11:03, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
