Talk:No Platform

Source for current list

Is there any source for organisations that are subject to no platform policy?Asifkhanj (talk) 10:41, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re NPOV template

The original author appears to disapprove of the policy. This article requires input on the history and reasons for the policy, for purely encyclopedic reasons as well as "balance". LessHeard vanU (talk) 23:19, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re Article

This is the most biased and poorly written article I have read in a long time. This clearly contravenes the aim of wikipedia. There is already a neutral article about No Platform. This was obviously written by the shameless author to support the anti-no platform stance and thus give it false credibility.

You seem so passionate about it yet you didn't sign your post? Hmmmm... Atraxus 01:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some effort to tidy the article, adding in some more material and removing swathes of OR and POV material from both sides of the debate. Some sourced criticism would be useful in addition to examples of SUs defecting. --129.67.162.133 (talk) 13:55, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updating and "No Platform" article

I just learned about this phrase from This 2014 New Statesman article. If there was anyone left who could merge this back into a better ref'dm NPOV "No Platform" article (which currently redirects here, it would be great. I'm not going to do anything and unwatching this page. But just a thought. Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 01:32, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on NUS No Platform Policy. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Requested move 22 January 2017

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: This has been relisted twice without discussion. I'm going to take that as an uncontroversial move and close this as such. (non-admin closure) SkyWarrior 00:48, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NUS No Platform PolicyNo Platform – This is certainly the simpler, more common, and more readily recognizable name. In the past, editors have also suggested this page be expanded to a general article on "No platforming" or "Deplatforming". Wolfdog (talk) 16:13, 22 January 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Confusing

So the lede states this is a policy of the NUS and then in it's final sentence states "The policy does not extend to students' unions who are part of NUS..." I've no idea what information this is trying to convey, is it or isn't a policy of the NUS, since I'd say a policy which doesn't extend to anyone isn't actually a policy. --86.5.93.103 (talk) 09:32, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How the policy works

The latter half of this is about a film not being shown which was on the basis of political imbalance due to being near to an election. This seems to have nothing to do with "no platform" unless the individual or the tory party are "proscribed" which I don't believe is the case. Surely this is something completely different to "no platform". --86.5.93.103 (talk) 09:41, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with deplatforming

Hi,

Proposal is we merge no platform into deplatforming.

Deplatforming talk page is marked as controversial so I have copied all users who have edited/talked deplatforming or "no platform"

Google scholar and search results. ("deplatforming" or "deplatform") AND (university OR College) - google scholar 91 search 16200 ("deplatforming" or "deplatform") search 5540 ("no platforming" or "no platform") AND (university OR College) Scholar 151 Search 4680 (1260 UK) ("no platforming" or "no platform") search 13200 BUT the phrase "No platform" is used often with railways, construction, games, and computing. It is also used in the sense of a party having no political platform in an election - people can still listen but the politicians have nothing to say.

Google Trends show no platforming decreasing and deplatforming increasing. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=no%20platforming,deplatforming User:Abedecian User:Alan_Liefting User:Alekksandr User:Altzinn Asifkhanj User:Bensin User:Bobfrombrockley Carolmooredc User:Chessrat User:Closeapple User:DanielRigal User:David_Gerard User:Davide_King User:DavidJ710 User:Derek_R_BUllamore User:Dewritech User:Dr_Gangrene User:Enginear [[User:EveredUx User:GCarty Atraxus User:George100 [[User:GUi_le_Roi User:IceKarma User:JamesAM User:JamesR User:Jayjg User:Joe_Roe User:John_wiki User:Jprg1966 User:Koavf User:LessHeard_vanU User:LilHelpa User:Lopifalko User:Lwarrenwiki User:Magioladitis User:Mahahahaneapneap User:Mannanan51 User:Marcocapelle User:MarioGom [[User:MaUls User:Mathglot User:Maximillion_PegasUs User:Metamagician3000 User:Neutrality User:Nizolan User:Nealmcb User:Philip Cross User:Philip_TrUeman User:Qwfp [[User:Rich_FarmbroUgh User:RichardLyons74 User:RJFJR User:RjwilmsiBot User:Rodw User:Sceptre User:SkyWarrior User:SmackBot User:SpanishSnake User:TFOWR User:Timrollpickering User:Wegesrand User:Wolfdog User:Zezen User:ZfJames Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 12:45, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
