Licence laundering → License laundering – This article uses American English, same as Commons page. Absolutiva (talk) 10:02, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: The article seems to have been created in British English, and should remain that way per WP:RETAIN. Looks like the proposer has been editing the article to remove the British English from it. Seems a bit WP:GAMING. YorkshireExpat (talk) 13:32, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: I wrote the original article using Canadian English. I have reverted your spelling changes and re-tagged the article with {{Use Canadian English}}. Mindmatrix 13:47, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Happy with that! Thanks @Mindmatrix. YorkshireExpat (talk) 13:50, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Wait, is that WP:ENGVAR you've looking for? Absolutiva (talk) 22:55, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Well, ENGVAR state that
English Wikipedia prefers no national variety over others
. RETAIN builds on that by sayingWhen no English variety has been established and discussion does not resolve the issue, use the variety found in the first post-stub revision that introduced an identifiable variety
, but here we have the original author (where the first revision was post-stub) saying they wrote it in Canadian English. I made a poor asumption thinking it was British English but was mostly going off the spelling of 'licence', which is spelled like that as a noun in BE and also apparently in CE. The giveaway is 'analyzed' lower down, which would be AE and not BE. Apparently this is one where CE is like AE. YorkshireExpat (talk) 09:07, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
