The population figure in the text is 650 000 and in the infobox 550 000. Probably text refers to total population and infobox refers to the population in Uzbekistan.
It is very racist that the Cultural backwardness article was one of the two links in the see also section when every single other ethnic group listed in the article does not have the article listed in the see also section for their articles. Implying that the Karakalpaks are so backwards that it is a defining feature of their nation to be worthy of being in the see also section is insane. All Karakalpak practices considered culturally backwards are present in other Central Asian peoples, often to a much more extreme extent. i would like to take a moment to rebutt the Uzbek propaganda about Karakalpaks being "savages" and such: the reason that Karakalpakstan is so poor and has low life expectancy is because of the environmental catastrophe of the disappearance of the Aral sea and contamination of their land with harsh agricultural chemicals from the cotton scandal era, plus economic neglect by the Uzbek government. Many Karakalpaks are very well educated - doctors, lawyers, scientists - and continuing to single out Karakalpaks as "culturally backwards" is racism.--QazyQazyQazaqstan (talk) 15:24, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
