Election date
Hi all, the sources used don't seem to have confirmed without a doubt that the election is to be held on 25 June. It could potentially be held in July or later this year, or technically (though very unlikely) not at all. I believe it is precedent to not change to the suggested date until we know for sure. As such, this page would become Next Greek legislative election. Any other thoughts? Quinby (talk) 10:53, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Agree, I see no confirmation of election day at all. Having both the official announcement of election day and election day in June is unlikely. Renaming to Next Greek legislative election until official confirmation of election day arrives. HudecEmil (talk) 11:24, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Electoral System
I keep reading about the bonus, but can't really make any sense of it. Could someone give an example perhaps using the popular vote percentages for the previous election? Criticalthinker (talk) 08:08, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Since ND was the largest party, it automatically received 20 bonus seats. It then got one bonus seat for every 0.5% of its vote share larger than 25%, up to 40% of the vote share. Its vote share was 40.56%. Thus it receives (40 - 25)/0.5 = 30 more bonus seats. This results in 50 bonus seats in total. The remaining 250 seats are then distributed proportionally. Gust Justice (talk) 04:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm getting 151 seats: 50 bonus seats + (.4055 * 250 = 101). --Criticalthinker (talk) 05:50, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Since ND reached 40%, the bonus seats are 50, as explained above. There's also a 3% threshold to enter parliament, and the seats that would have gone to parties under 3% are distributed to the parties in parliament. So the number of seats is calculated like this:
- (% nationwide)/ (total % of parties that enter parliament) • (seats left after calculating the bonus)
- So in this case, where a total % 6.15% of the vote went to parties that didn't enter, ND has:
- (40.55/93.15%) • 250 = 108.01
- Adding the bonus: 108+50= 158.01≈ 158 seats. Teletic (talk) 20:33, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Chania, Piraeus B, Nationwide seats, SYRIZA & KKE changes
1. The map shows Chania as 3 ND and 1 PASOK, while that 4th seat is actually SYRIZA.
2. A recent supreme court case gave Plefsi Eleftherias a nationwide (epikrateias) seat at the expense of ND, and gave an extra seat to ND in Piraeus B at PE's expense.
So can the map please be updated? 62.74.18.16 (talk) 16:33, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- In addition, it has been decided that SYRIZA loses one seat in Serres (so 48-->47) and KKE gains one in Ioannina (so 20-->21). May this also be added to the map and diagrams, as well as the ones above? 2A02:2149:8AD9:A400:CD81:ECDB:3B96:2950 (talk) 09:38, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Why hasn't the Ministry of Interior updated the seat allocation? The same article cited repeatedly in the edits only talks about the Ioannina seat switching from ND to KKE, so it made no sense that SYRIZA was the one losing a seat. Thanks for the info. 2001:8A0:6A16:8301:8AF:5DD7:3B1C:A51A (talk) 12:31, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- I don't know why the Ministry hasn't updated it, but the Parliament has convened and SYRIZA has 47, KKE has 21. Similarly, Plefsi Eleftherias has a nationwide seat instead of the seat they initially won in Piraeus B. So whoever makes the map needs to update all these things. 2A02:2149:8AD9:A400:A5C7:6CA6:DE2B:6A8 (talk) 20:50, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- By now it has been months since the ministry updated the results. The map should really be changed as it is incorrect 2003:E9:FF07:4183:B5F3:F429:9FBD:43D0 (talk) 08:38, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

Add a more detailed map of results from overseas votes

Next election
Currently the Next election arrow just redirects to this article. We ought to have a new article for the election assumed to be happening in 2027. They tend to be held in either the spring or the autumn, but since the parliament has a 4 year term, June 2027 is the latest possible date. Perplexedhellenic (talk) 14:54, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
- I've fixed the target so it goes to Opinion polling for the next Greek legislative election instead. Number 57 16:11, 22 October 2023 (UTC)

– Following on from the discussion that resulted in Czech elections being moved from 'legislative' to 'parliamentary', I would like to propose we do the same for Greece. As mentioned in that discussion, 'parliamentary' is a more clear and precise term for the type of election in question, and probably also a more widely understood term than 'legislative'. Greece is a parliamentary republic and its parliament is called the Hellenic Parliament. The proposed terminology is also more widely used, both on Wikipedia and more widely (171,000 Google hits for 'parliamentary election' vs 39,500 for 'legislative election'). In case there are concerns that other countries use "legislative" and this is an unnecessary change as it is fine for other countries, I am planning on proposing moves for several other countries that use 'legislative' apparently inappropriately in the near future.
