Hansard on obstruction
Hansard's reporting of Biggar HC Deb 22 April 1875 vol 223 cc1451-90 is interesting:
- [The hon. Member here read in a manner which made it impossible to follow the application, long extracts from the Report and Evidence of the Westmeath Commission, from the Catholic newspapers of Ireland, and from statements and resolutions of various public bodies, and meetings. The general purport appeared to be to denounce the necessity for any exceptional legislation in regard to Ireland, to assert the general tranquillity and good order of the country and the absence of Ribbonism, and to protest against the invasion of the liberties of the people.]
and later:
- [The hon. Member, who was almost inaudible, was understood to recapitulate some of the arbitrary enactments of older statutes, and to point out that they were in substance or effect reenacted in the various Arms Acts and Peace Preservation Acts of the present reign].
and then:
- The hon. Member accordingly, who had been speaking from below the Gangway, removed to a bench nearer to the Speaker's Chair, taking with him a large mass of papers, from which he continued to read long extracts, with comments.

Date of conversion to Catholicism (1877 or 1875)
Under the 'Origins' subheading, there seems to be inconsistency regarding when Biggar was converted to Catholicism. Unfortunately, I do not have access to either of the sources and am unable to verify which is the more reputable source. I have accordingly attached the Self-contradictory tag.

We currently imply that he was born 'Bigger' but the son of 'Biggar'
Under the 'Origins' subheading, there seems to be inconsistency regarding the spelling of his name, where we imply he was born 'Bigger' but the son of 'Biggar'. Unfortunately, I do not have access to one of the 3 relevant sources (and the other two cited sources appear to contradict each other) and am thus currently unwilling to try to fix it myself (per WP:NOTCOMPULSORY and WP:BNO). I have accordingly attached the Self-contradictory tag (beneath the one already there about the date of his conversion). Tlhslobus (talk) 19:16, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
