Source review
List all sources in section "Sources", and use the same template for all citations.Do you have secondary sources about Colebe's life? My concern is that primarily tertiary sources are cited. Our relevant policy says: "Wikipedia articles usually rely on material from reliable secondary sources...tertiary sources can help provide broad summaries of topics that involve many primary and secondary sources and may help evaluate due weight, especially when primary or secondary sources contradict each other".Borsoka (talk) 07:32, 5 January 2025 (UTC)- @SkywalkerEccleston: when do you think you can address the above issues? Borsoka (talk) 04:26, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Borsoka, I can address this in the next 48 hours. SkywalkerEccleston (talk) 11:45, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Borsoka, I have updated the page and added some new sources. It is ready for your review.--SkywalkerEccleston (talk) 14:37, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Comments
- Could you provide us with a background (no more than two or three sentences) about his homeland, the tribes, the British settlers and administration, and their relationship?
- ...was estimated... By whom?
- According to the Eora... Who are the Eora? Link them. Why is their view relevant?
- Link Aboriginal.
- His face was described as being heavily scarred by smallpox. The Eora had endured a smallpox epidemic in April 1789. Could you consolidate the two sentences, or their consolidation would be an original synthesis?
- I would clarify that Watling was Colebe's contemporary.
- ...by the Governor's house By?
- ...the spearing of Governor Philip... Some context?
- ...on the orders of... Did he specifically want to capture Colebe and Bennelong, or he wanted to talk with two Aboriginals?
- ...refused invitations to meet with the European settlers.. The invitations are not mentioned in previous sentences. Why were they invited? Why did they refuse invitations? Whose are these settlers?
- ...the settlers' town... Where? Could you name it?
- Colebee acted as a guide to the settlers,... When?
- ... became increasingly dependent on the British colonists What does this mean? Does the European settlers and the British colonist form two separate groups?
- ...he failed to bring in Bidjigal warrior Pemulwuy,... Why should he have brought him in?
- Introduce Collins.
- ...fought over Bennelong's wife Kurubarabulu... Some context?
- Colebee's violence towards women was well-known. By whom? Perhaps "towards women is well documented". Do we know the reasons? Was he punished for his violent acts?
- ...ritual revenge battles... Some explanation in the text or in a footenote? Borsoka (talk) 09:29, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
