Caliban is the half-human slave of the wizard Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest who rebels against being controlled. It’s his war because there are half-human things driving the war that are rebelling against being controlled.[2][3]
We have, in TV Trope terms, Word of God. That said, although the Protomolecule kicks off the war, and the novel has a lot of inhuman plot elements (read, sociopathic), it is largely off-stage. And if memory serves, "Caliban" is not so much as mentioned. On balance it doesn't have to be worked into the plot synopsis either. Shakespeare is a part of our cultural heritage, and that suffices. kencf0618 (talk) 13:11, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
