Draft feedback 12/11/24
- @LIUCGiorgio, MyrtheLiucT2, LIUCChia.05, LIUCHéloïse2, LiucRiky, LIUCMaxiTeam2, and LIUCandyGroup02:
- note the guidelines and good practice on lead sections, look at other pages and remove 'Introduction' for the Lead Section. See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. Use this to develop this section, which needs to include the Italian name at this point, the length, start-end points, and extablish notability (1st/oldest via ferrata, etc. - currently erronerously in History section). The lead has no heading. See also Wikipedia:Writing_better_articles#Lead_section.
- 4 references are incorrectly inserted below the reference header tag. See Help:Referencing for beginners and similar
- needs adding to relevant Categories. See Help:Category
- needs See Also and External Links sections. Understand the differences between these sections and types of links. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#"See_also"_section and Wikipedia:External links. See how it is done on other pages
- needs a map of the path. Plenty online.
- structure:
- Location needs to come before History;Geology befor Cultural significance; etc.
- the following text should not be in History: "The Sentiero Bove (Bove Path) is one of the most iconic hiking routes in the Italian Alps, recognized for being the first via ferrata (iron path) and Alta Via (high-altitude trail) in the region. Located in the Parco Nazionale Val Grande,..."
- History section needs better structure. First sub-section Origins (with the pastoral origins and Bove's death), then the sub-sections on the actual history of the path.
- referencing:
- inconsistencies in reference format related to use of upper case characters and to identify non-English sources
- non-English rsources are acceptable but need to be complimented and balanced with English sources accessible to the platform's audience. See Wikipedia:Verifiability#Non-English_sources
- style:
- avoid the use of unnecessary, subjective and biased vocabulary e.g. 'home to the'; 'most iconic'; 'Today'; 'However'; 'groundbreaking,'; 'hidden in the rocky folds'; etc. See Manual_of_Style#Vocabulary
- the style in the Stages sub-section is inappropriate and includes personal tense and travel guide type content e.g. 'hut is already in sight'; etc.
- grammar: inconsistencies in use of italics
- use of the topic name: the topic is Bove Path, but the Italian name is used in many places
- duplicate content e.g. 'Located in the Parco Nazionale Val Grande'; memorial to Bove; etc. Needs better structure.
- linking: See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking.
- You link out once, the first time the linked text is used
- do not duplicate links out (at least 4)
- needs topic-relevant images to support adjacent text sections
- the Geology section is relevant, but needs better relevance to the page topic rather than the surrounding region
- additional sources:
- there is some relevant historical information (in Italian) via Google Books, particularly related to historic Alpine Club sources
- given the extensive issues listed here it is advised to discuss & correctly 'check off' issues where they are listed when completed to manage these tasks. See Help:Talk
- the page needs relevant and acceptable images locared with the relevant text sections. There are many online which need pursuing for acceptable licensing and use.
- linking in: the page has potential for relevant links from and to the page. These include several existing pages for which links to this page can be created.

Corrected a few wrong links and overlinks.
References
Hi Everyone,
During the meeting, Mr. Walker talked about the sources and mentioned that we need to improve them. Was he referring to the Non-English sources? or about ref 8 and 15? I feel like I might have missed his point. Could you help me summarize what he meant with that feedback? Thank you

Category
Hi!
I see that this draft hasn't been added yet into a category, I think we can include it in "Hiking trials in italy", im using the Selvaggio Blu (Sardinia) article as a reference. LIUCandyGroup02 (talk) 16:53, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, good point. I think "Hiking trials in italy" is perfect for that! MyrtheLiucT2 (talk) 14:24, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

- Check the references: some references are incorrectly inserted below the reference header tag. See Help:Referencing for beginners and similar
- Use appropriate captions for images.
- The draft is divided into too many sub-sections. This does not give fluidity to the reader. Consider whether to merge some chapters.
- Pay attention to uniformity of titles: all should be capitalized
- Insert an introductory paragraph for all macro-chapters to explain what they are about

Draft feedback 29/11/24
- @LIUCGiorgio, MyrtheLiucT2, LIUCChia.05, LIUCHéloïse2, LiucRiky, LIUCMaxiTeam2, and LIUCandyGroup02:
- General Comments
- The draft provides a thorough overview of the Bove Path, its historical significance, and geographical details. However, it can be improved by adhering to Wikipedia’s guidelines for neutrality, readability, and verifiability.
- Some sections, such as "Flora and Fauna," are overly detailed and include unnecessary technical descriptions. Focus on the broader significance of the path’s features.
- The tone needs refinement to ensure neutrality, especially in sections that describe the scenery and challenges.
- Lead Section
- The lead is well-structured but overly descriptive. Simplify it to include the essential facts about the trail, such as its location, significance, and difficulty level.
- Avoid promotional phrases like "breathtaking views" or "unique geological heritage." Replace with factual statements supported by sources.
- Structure
- Headings:
- The headings are clear, but some subsections could be consolidated. For example, "Terrain and Iron Path" and "Extended Path" might be combined under "Trail Features and Variants."
- Rename "Flora" and "Fauna" to "Biodiversity" for a more concise and engaging title.
- Flow:
- Reorganize the "History" section to flow chronologically, starting with pastoral origins and ending with modern restoration efforts.
- Move "Geology" closer to the introduction, as it provides foundational context for the trail's physical characteristics.
- Headings:
- References
- Formatting:
- Ensure consistent formatting for all citations. For example, Ref 2 and Ref 4 lack access dates and publisher details.
- Cross-check references for reliability and avoid overly local or non-academic sources.
- Balance:
- Most sources are in Italian. Include more English-language references to make the article accessible to a broader audience.
- Verification:
- Ensure all claims, especially those about UNESCO recognition and historical details, are backed by reliable secondary sources.
- Formatting:
- Images
- Relevance:
- The images are visually engaging but lack clear captions. For example, "View from Monte Zeda" could be expanded to "Panoramic view of Monte Zeda, highlighting the rugged terrain of the Bove Path."
- Remove or replace overly generic images that do not directly contribute to the article's content.
- Placement:
- Place images closer to their relevant sections for better visual flow and context.
- Relevance:
- Style and Tone
- Neutrality:
- Rewrite subjective phrases such as "the rugged beauty of this section highlights the remote and undisturbed landscape."
- Avoid using overly technical terms without explanation. For instance, define "via ferrata" for readers unfamiliar with the term.
- Conciseness:
- Condense repetitive details, such as multiple mentions of the trail’s difficulty and alpine features.
- Simplify descriptions of flora and fauna to focus on unique aspects of the ecosystem.
- Neutrality:
- Specific Section Feedback
- History
- Expand on Giacomo Bove’s contribution and the significance of naming the trail after him.
- Avoid redundancy in describing the trail’s restoration efforts. Consolidate mentions of the CAI’s involvement into one subsection.
- History
- Trail Overview
- Clearly define the trail’s classification (EE and EEA) and explain the meaning for an international audience.
- Highlight the unique challenges of the trail without overemphasizing its dangers.
- Flora and Fauna
- Focus on key species that are unique or endangered, rather than listing a wide variety of plants and animals.
- Include specific examples of conservation efforts and their impact on biodiversity.
- Geology
- This section is well-detailed but could be condensed. Emphasize the significance of the Ivrea-Verbano Zone and its contribution to the trail’s rugged terrain.
- Modern-Day Status
- Provide more recent statistics or user feedback, such as annual visitor numbers or reviews from hiking publications, to illustrate its popularity and current status.
- Extended Path
- Ensure this section clearly distinguishes the extended path from the original, highlighting its added features and challenges.
- Suggestions for Improvement
- Neutralize Language:
- Replace subjective descriptors with neutral, factual statements supported by references.
- Enhance Accessibility:
- Use simpler language for non-technical readers. Define niche terms like "transhumance" or "moraine."
- Streamline Content:
- Remove redundant or overly detailed sections, particularly in the "Flora and Fauna" and "Geology" sections.
- Improve Citations:
- Add more independent, secondary sources to validate claims, especially about historical and cultural significance.
- Neutralize Language:
