Needs work. :-)
This article needs some clarification as to the criteria for listing a book here. There are thousands of books that in theory would be banned in Iran, based on the government's criteria. Any book critical of Islam, just for starters, would fail to meet the theocratic Constitution: "the press is free to express their opinion, unless it is against the foundation of Islam" (article 24, The Constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran). And tens of thousands of other books would be censored, whose subjects "'do not deserve to be published', for example [for]: Renouncing the fundamentals of religion; ... inviting the society to riot against Iran; promoting the ideas of ... illegal groups and corrupted sects [e.g. Bahai, Yazidi, Ishmaelis, FSM, etc.] and defending monarchy; ... creating problems in the unity of the society and the country; mocking and weakening the national pride and nationalistic spirit, and creating an atmosphere of losing national values to the culture and civilization of western or eastern colonizing systems." The latter alone could cover tens of thousands of printed books. So what does this list actually comprise? Recent bans? Bans that achieved some level of notoriety? Where does the list come from? What is omitted, and on what basis? Etc. Benefac (talk) 17:39, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
