"Christmas Tree Division" was a colloquial, unofficial name, just like the "Desert Rats" was for the British 7th Armoured Division.
It's actually a "hard to find" bit of info unless you read war memoirs, or happen to have a veteran of this unit as an ancestor, like I do. Well, perhaps the people who know the history of the British 8th Army, which included the entire Polish 2nd Corps (3rd DSK was part of it) would remember, too.
I will try to reference one of the war memoirs I have in my library, but it'll take a while and be guaranteed to have been published in Polish. Unfortunately, it'll be hard to get other sources to fulfill quotability requirement...
