From Ambraseys and Melville's work it seems clear that this earthquakes is just misreporting of the 1721 Tabriz earthquake by Robert Ker Porterwriting in 1821 (page 227). To quote Ambraseys & Melville "That his 1727 is in error for 1721 (a far more destructive and widely reported shock that any other at this period cf. earthquake of 1717) seems beyond doubt". Still it turns up in lots of catalogues, as such longstanding errors tend to, so we should probably have an article. Mikenorton (talk) 13:30, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
