Prambors FM is a national commercial-public/state media contemporary hit radio based in Jakarta and surrounding areas officially formal full opened broadcast took place in Jakarta metropolitan area (the surrounding areas Jakarta) on 18 March 1971 was to play pop music with target audience for teenagers. Prambors is known as a teenager icon in Indonesia from 1970s to now. It is owned and operated by Masima Radio Network (formerly Masima Contents + Channels). Prambors FM plays around all full Western Top 40 music along with I-Radio 101,4 FM Jakarta Mustang 88 FM. Prambors' full name is Prambors Rasisonia, which stands for Prambanan, Mendut, Borobudur dan Sekitarnya serta Radio Siaran Sosial Niaga. The radio station's officially tagline and slogan is "Indonesia's Number 1 Hit Music Station". History

The station was founded by Imran Amir, Mursid Rustam, Malik Sjafei, Bambang Wahyudi and Tri Tunggal. During the late 1960s, Prambors is the nickname one of the gangs from Menteng in downtown Jakarta. Prambors is an abbreviation of Prambanan, Mendut, Borobudur dan sekitarnya (Prambanan, Mendut, Borobudur and the surroundings), the name of several streets in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Starting from being amateur station, Prambors changed its name commercially due to government laws, with the name PT Radio Prambors. The radio network was officially formal full opening broadcast took place in Jakarta metropolitan area (the surrounding areas Jakarta) with very first frequency broadcast on AM 666 kHz on 18 March 1971 based in Jakarta and surrounding areas as Prambors Rasisonia — Rasisonia itself stands for Radio Siaran Sosial Niaga (Social Commercial Broadcast Radio). This broadcast area was only limited to Jakarta metropolitan area (the surrounding areas Jakarta) only and broadcasts in Jakarta.

On 1 December 1987, Prambors was officially very first frequency to introduced as FM Stereo in Jakarta metropolitan area (the surrounding areas Jakarta). FM Stereo network begins operations was officially introducing stereo broadcast to Jakarta. Jakarta's first radio station to broadcast in FM Stereo by officially moved frequency band from AM 666 kHz to new audio frequency channel band officially opening FM transmissions on 102.2 MHz based in Jakarta metropolitan area (the surrounding areas Jakarta, Bekasi, Depok, Bogor, Tangerang, South Tangerang, Bekasi Regency, Bogor Regency, Tangerang Regency, and some northwest region of Cianjur Regency). Prambors officially introduced and commenced broadcast expanded to 24 hours network.

On 1 December 2002, Prambors was officially extended broadcast area to all region in Bandung and surrounding areas (Bandung Regency, Bandung City, Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency and some southwest region of Sumedang Regency) and all region in Surabaya and surrounding areas (Surabaya City, Gresik Regency, Sidoarjo Regency, Bangkalan Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Mojokerto City and Lamongan Regency) as Prambors very first and second in outside Jakarta metropolitan area.

On 1 July 2003, Prambors was officially extended broadcast area to Semarang and surrounding areas (Semarang Regency, Semarang City, Salatiga City, Demak Regency, Grobogan Regency (part only) and Kendal Regency), all region in Special Region of Yogyakarta (Bantul, Gunung Kidul Regency, Kulon Progo Regency, Sleman Regency and Yogyakarta) and all region in Makassar and surrounding areas (Makassar City, Gowa Regency, Maros Regency and Takalar Regency) as Prambors very first in Sulawesi and outside Java.

On 1 December 2005, Prambors was officially extended broadcast area to all region in Surakarta and surrounding areas (Surakarta CitySukoharjo Regency, Boyolali Regency, Karanganyar Regency, Wonogiri Regency, Sragen Regency and Klaten Regency) and all region in Medan and surrounding areas (Deli Serdang Regency, Medan City and Binjai City) as Prambors very first in Sumatra.

Program

Prambors started the careers of singers Chrisye because of their LCLR (Lomba Cipta Lagu Remaja) in 1977.[citation needed] In the 1980s, the Catatan Si Boy drama series was the Jakarta's favorite radio program.[citation needed] Due its success on the radio, CSB made the series in to a box office movie. Beside on-air programs, Prambors has off-air programs such as Prambors Nite and Tenda Mangkal. Prambors also aired their joint venture programs with Star FM Indonesia titled Viva la H!TS as the part of their five-year partnership which is started in the summer of 2021.
