This article is about a person whose name includes a patronymic. The article properly refers to the person by his given name, Muwalil, and not as Wasit.
Sultan Jamalul-Kiram I was a Sultan of Sulu from 1823 to 1844.[1] As per some sources, his real name was Muwalil Wasit (cousin to Brunei Sultan Nasiruddin). Muwalil Wasit was the son of Alimud-Din III.[2]
1 The last recognised Sultan of Sulu was Sultan Jamalul Kiram II and based on historical records in Malaysia, Philippines and Brunei, he died in 1936 and had seven daughters but no son which in Islamic law, a woman cannot be appointed as heir or successor. (note)
