Francisco da Costa Aragão (born 5 May 1995), commonly known as Chico, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Paraguayan Primera División club Cerro Porteño.

Career

Atlético Paranaense

Formed in professional football with Atlético Paranaense, he didn't manage to debut with the first team of "o Furacão," being sent on loan on four occasions.

Inter de Lages

Chico scored on his league debut for Inter de Lages against Chapecoense on 12 April 2015, scoring in the 83rd minute.[1]

Tombense

Chico made his league debut for Tombense against Guarani on 27 July 2015.[2]

Loan to São José-RS

Chico made his league debut for São José-RS against São Bento on 12 June 2016.[3] He scored his first goal for the club against São Paulo RS on 3 April 2016, scoring in the 11th minute.

São José-RS

In 2016, he parted ways with Atlético Paranaense, joining Esporte Clube São José.

After participating in eleven matches and scoring a goal with "Zequinha", he left to join Inter Playa del Carmen.

Venados

After playing in the Apertura 2017 of the Second Division of Mexico with the Playa team (where he scored ten goals), his transfer to Venados Fútbol Club was confirmed to participate in the Clausura 2018 of the Ascenso MX.[4] He made his debut for the club against Cafetaleros de Chiapas on 27 January 2018.[5] He scored his first goal for the club against FC Juárez on 18 February 2018, scoring in the 85th minute.[6]

Second spell at Inter Playa del Carmen

Later, he played the second half of the following season with the Quintana Roo squad, with which he had already played before.[7]

Atlante

In December 2018, the reinforcements of Atlante Fútbol Club were announced, led at that time by Argentine coach Gabriel Ernesto Pereyra, among which Francisco was included.[8] Chico played his first match with "the iron colts" on January 26, 2018, facing Cafetaleros de Tapachula.[9] He scored his first goal for the club against Tampico Madero on 7 February 2020, scoring in the 34th minute.[10] His performances left a good impression on the blue and garnet team, to the point that several media outlets dubbed him "the goal man of Atlante."[9] In fact, one of his most memorable performances was against Cafetaleros (who at that time were already referred to as Cafetaleros de Chiapas instead of Cafetaleros de Tapachula), where "the Team of the People" defeated the Chiapas team with a double by Da Costa Aragão, resulting in a final score of 2–1.[11]

Querétaro

After playing 26 official matches and scoring 4 goals with Atlante, he joined Querétaro to compete in the Guard1anes 2020.[12]

He played his first match with "the white roosters" on August 22, 2020, facing Atlas. He entered the field in the 45th minute, replacing Ángel Sepúlveda. The match ended in a 1–0 victory in favor of "the foxes."[13] He scored his first goal for the club against Atlas F.C. on 18 January 2021, scoring in the 87th minute.[14]

Sol de América

Chico scored on his league debut for Sol de América against Sportivo Luqueño on 24 July 2021, scoring in the 78th minute.[15]

Bolívar

Chico scored a brace on his league debut for Bolívar against Club Blooming on 6 February 2022, scoring a penalty in the 45th+2nd minute and scoring in the 62nd minute.[16]

Chico was an extremely important player for Bolívar in the 2022 Bolivian Primera División season, which Bolívar has won. During the 2022 season, he played 36 times and scored 21 goals.

Loan to Atlético Nacional

Chico scored on his debut for Atlético Nacional against Jaguares de Córdoba on 4 February 2023, scoring in the 52nd minute.[17]
