This graph image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “U.S. incarceration rate by race 2.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
DescriptionU.S. incarceration rate by race 2.gif
Rate of U.S. imprisonment per 100,000 population of adult males by race and ethnicity in 2006. Jails and prisons. On June 30, 2006, an estimated 4.8% of black non-Hispanic men were in prison or jail, compared to 1.9% of Hispanic men of any race, and 0.7% of white non-Hispanic men. Source of data for chart:
"On June 30, 2006, an estimated 4.8% of black men were in prison or jail, compared to 1.9% of Hispanic men and 0.7% of white men. More than 11% of black males age 25 to 34 were incarcerated. Black women were incarcerated in prison or jail at nearly 4 times the rate of white women and more than twice the rate of Hispanic women."
Sentence with November.org contact info removed from the bottom of the chart by User:Timeshifter. See Commons:Watermarks. The text at the right top of the chart was added by User:Timeshifter, and Timeshifter puts the revised chart in the public domain also. The text was added using IrfanView, a popular freeware image editor. Go to the edit menu, and then to "insert text into selection." IrfanView was also used to slightly correct the length of the middle column.
The 2 tables have separate rates for males and females. Also by year from 2000-2009. Also by age groups.
Adult male incarceration rates for 2009 per 100,000 population of adult males by race and ethnicity:

Cleaner version without artifacts (dots). Also, it uses less kilobytes. I used the freeware IrfanView image editor to add text to the original chart that was uploaded 28 September 2010.
