Description
English: The Museum Originally this was one of the Carnegie Libraries funded by Andrew Carnegie the steel magnate; and what a gem it is. Built in 1905 in the Art Nouveau style by local architects Garside and Pennington. In 1897, a vote put to the people of Ponty', asked if they wanted a free library? 700 voted NO 150 voted YES so, when in 1902 Mr Carnegie was approached by a local businessman about funding a library he replied that it seemed that the local people did not want one, however he eventually relented and sent the money.
