English: The SS Satilla was the first deep water vessel to call at Houston, Texas (USA), in 1915 [1]. Note her neutrailty flag and the large name "SATILLA U.S.A." on the side. The 2.667 grt Satilla was built as Yard No. 137 at the Fore River Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Quincy (Massachusetts, USA) in 1906 and was operated by the Brunswick S.S. Co., Brunswick (Georgia) 1906-1912, and by Atlantic, Gulf & West Indies Lines - Agwilines - AGWI Lines Inc., New York, 1912-1916. On 30 December 1916, she was sold to Olaf Ørvig, Bergen (Norway) and renamed SS Hans Kinck. She was sunk on 7 February 1917 by the German submarine UC 39 (position 52.05N 02.40E) while on passage from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to Newcastle (UK).[2][3]
