Description

Diagram of British Time and Percussion Fuze No. 80 Mk V, Land service.
Made by Vickers under licence from Krupp of Germany. No. 80 was originally introduced in 1905 for use with QF 18 pounder shells and was the first British fuze with the 2-inch gauge thread.
Height 60 mm, width at widest point 60 mm. Weight 10.229 oz.
The marking RL indicate it was made by Royal Laboratories.
This was the first of the new 2-inch gauge fuzes. 2 time rings, 22 seconds burn time at rest.
Body made of aluminium.
Brass ring on the body graduated from 0 to 22, reading in tenths.
Cover is made of brass; a brass strip is soldered to its lower edge, lower end secured by a ring of brass wire, intended to be gripped by fingers when removing cover.
Listed in 1915 for use with shrapnel shells for the following guns :-
