Designed by then 15-year-old Vaughan student Michael Vite, the flag features a white field and four blue stripes representing the four main communities of Vaughan at the time: Kleinburg, Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge. The four stripes are joined together at the centre with the symbol of Canada, the red maple leaf.
