Summary

Description

A plan of Ely Cathedral in England by G Dehio (died 1932).

Note: This plan is a conjectural plan showing the way Ely Cathedral may have been in about the year 1200 CE. Subsequently the entire eastern end was remodelled, then in 1250 a porch was added to the western end, the central tower fell down and was replaced, 1322-46 by the unique Octagon, and one of the small towers of the western end fell down, never to be replaced, and leaving the building quite lop-sided. A large rectangular Lady Chapel was built on the north side in the 1370s. TTaylor
