English: The current (since 1961) main Clan Davidson tartan, in the "modern" colour palette, rendered with a doubled thread count for clarity (as would be done with this tartan when woven for a kilt). This image is not extactly full-sett and cannot be tiled horizontally or vertically (though it does upscale nicely to 200% to better show the weave, though it is not entirely photorealistic). This centred view of a span of the tartan was created to illustrate that the tartan consists of equal blue and black bands "on" a green base (with thin red over-checks); then lightened a little so blue and black are more distinguishable. Scottish Register of Tartans notes on this pattern: "Recorded [by the Lord Lyon] in the Public Register of All Arms & Bearings in Scotland 44/89 on 27th July 1961 by Sir David Davidson of Alltdinnie. Scottish Tartans Society noted that D. C. Stewart called this sett 'the more recent' Davidson and the basis for the Henderson tartan. It was included in 'Old and Rare Scottish Tartans' by D. W. Stewart (1893), with a woven sample in silk. This version of the Davidson tartan omits the white stripe of the earlier setts recorded by the Highland Society of London and in the Moy Hall collection."
