English: (September 7) Annual performance to honour Our Lady of Candelaria at Socorro Beach, Güímar, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. It conmmemorates a Marian apparition: According to a legend recorded by Alonso de Espinosa in 1594, the image of Our Lady of Candelaria appeared before Guanche shepperds around 1400, before the Castilian conquest of the island, hence the fur capes
Español: 7 de septiembre: Representación anual (7 de septiembre) de la aparición de la Virgen de la Candelaria en la Playa del Socorro, Güímar, Tenerife, Canarias, España. Según la leyenda relatada por Fray Alonso de Espinosa en 1594, la imagen de la Virgen se apareció a pastores guanches alrededro de 1400, antes de la conquista castellana de la isla.
