Summary

Description
English: Alton Towers The house on the southern side of the theme park site. It was called Alton Lodge during its early life, and was the summer residence for the Earl of Shrewsbury and his family. Charles, the 15th Earl, took more interest in the house and its grounds. He began to extend it in 1800 and continued, with major work being done or planned every year until 1852. http://www.towersalmanac.com/history/index.php?id=1 to full history of the house.
