The 2025 Peach Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The 57th annual Peach Bowl game will be one of the college football playoff quarterfinal games and will feature two of the playoff teams. The Peach Bowl will be one of the 2024–25 bowl games concluding the 2024 FBS football season. Sponsored by restaurant chain Chick-fil-A, the game is officially known as the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.[2][3]
Background
The 2024 Peach bowl is a quarterfinal game for the College Football Playoff (CFP).[4] Arizona State being the number 12 team in the final CFP rankings and winning the their conference championship game, received an automatic bye in the new 12 team format of the CFP and was selected to play in the bowl game as the 4th seed. No. 12 Clemson and No. 5 Texas will compete for the other spot in the Peach Bowl on December 21, 2024.[4][5] The winner of the Peach Bowl will advance in the playoff to the Cotton Bowl to face the winner of the Rose Bowl.[6]
If Texas wins their first round game, this will be the second all-time meeting between the Sun Devils and the Longhorns, with the first meeting taking place in the 2007 Holiday Bowl,[7] while the game would be the first time Clemson and Arizona State have played each other should the Tigers win their game against the Longhorns.[8]
