- The decision to move Skálholtsskóli to Reykjavík is made, with teaching beginning at Hólavallaskóli a year later.[1]
- Finnur Jónsson, bishop of Skálholt resigned in the spring. Bishop Hannes Finnsson succeeded him.[2]
