Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- SALT (band) → The Salt Collective (currently a redirect back to SALT (band)) (move · ) – WP:NAMECHANGES; MOS:ALLCAPS 162 etc. (talk) 06:52, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- No problem with downcasing, but not sure about changing to The Salt Collective. From what I can gather, the latter is a collaboration with various others to produce an album, but not clear that it is identical to the original Salt group, or indeed can be said to supersede it... — Amakuru (talk) 15:38, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree on eliminating the all-caps, but if their name remains "Salt" note that there is another band of that name (from Sweden) at Salt (band). ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:44, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark → Tatiana Blatnik (currently a redirect back to Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark) (move · ) – Tatiana Blatnik is no longer a member of the royal family since her divorce with Prince Nikolaos. Peeperman (talk) 22:27, 2 February 2025 (UTC)Peeperman (talk) 22:27, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Not convinced the conditions for WP:NAMECHANGES are met, or that the current name isnt' still the common name despite her divorce. See for example [1][2][3] for recent sources. — Amakuru (talk) 15:42, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Battle of Shkłów (currently a redirect to Battle of Shklow) → Battle of Szkłów (currently a redirect instead to Battle of Shklow) (move · ) – Misspelled ThaesOfereode (talk) 21:31, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- I have restored this to its prior long-term title of Battle of Shklow, which also matches the article on the town itself at Shklow. This should probably be discussed as it doesn't seem uncontroversial at least, given uncertainty over common name and that the locality is in present-day Belarus rather than Poland. — Amakuru (talk) 22:07, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Contested technical requests
- Draft:Survivor 48 → Survivor 48 (currently a redirect instead to Survivor (American TV series)) (move · ) – Move to article and contestants have been released earlier this week. 27.49.15.129 (talk) 23:26, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- Currently this draft is not yet eligible to be moved to main space. Since this season has already been completed, it should better match the more complete articles of other seasons such as Survivor 47. Also the prose needs to be updated to the present tense. TiggerJay (talk) 01:21, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- David Jones (retailer) → David Jones (department store) (currently a redirect back to David Jones (retailer)) (move · ) – Standard naming convention for Australian department stores, e.g. Charles Davis (department store), Venture (department store), Waltons (department store). Aeriuxoy (talk) 03:41, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Aeriuxoy This article has changed names several times including as recent as 2023. This should undergo a full RM to stabilize the article title before the next page move. TiggerJay (talk) 04:43, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Alaxmi Ka Super Parivaar → Alaxmi – Hamari Super Bahu (move · ) – original name 2409:40C0:1062:98D0:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 03:50, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- The page moves in 2012 are stable, so they are not summarily revertible without discussion. This request also doesn't include a substantive reason for preferring the original article title (but now with a dash instead of a hyphen). SilverLocust 💬 14:05, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Kashish (serial) → Kashish (TV series) (move · ) – name correction 2409:40C0:1062:98D0:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 03:53, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Per WP:NCTV#Television programming, "(serial)" is an appropriate disambiguation for a serial. This would also be reverting a stable move from 6 years ago. So this is not non-controversial and would require a requested move discussion. SilverLocust 💬 13:57, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- ThinkPad A series (IBM) → IBM ThinkPad A series (currently a redirect back to ThinkPad A series (IBM)) (move · ) – Natural disambiguation. DigitalIceAge (talk) 05:05, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- It appears that all other ThinkPad series articles do not have "IBM" in the titles at all: see ThinkPad X series, ThinkPad T series, ThinkPad R series, and several others. This one simply needs to be moved to ThinkPad A series, though that namespace is currently redirected to the omnibus ThinkPad article. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:10, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Doomsdayer520: IBM ThinkPad T20 series and IBM ThinkPad Power Series are counterexamples to that. DigitalIceAge (talk) 16:45, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- That merely shows a lack of consistency, so you have discovered a problem that can be cleaned up. Those two can have "IBM" removed as well. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:55, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I think the consensus is to remove the manufacturer where possible in such titles. See previous RM at VIC-20. 162 etc. (talk) 17:25, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Unless user:DigitalIceAge objects, I can complete these numerous moves on Feb. 3, to make them all consistent and without the "IBM" in each title. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:49, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Doomsdayer520, Feb. 3 has come and virtually gone. Have you made the moves yet? If so, please de-list this request. Thanks! Intrisit (talk) 21:51, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

- Qizil Armies → Qьzьl Armies (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · ) – This was the name as written in Latin script Soman (talk) 12:01, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Per WP:TRANSLITERATE, "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, such as Greek, Chinese, or Russian names, must be romanized." That would apply to the article title, but the literal version can be in the text. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:59, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- But 'Qьzьl Armies' is the name in Latin Script. In Cyrillic its 'кызылармеец'. --Soman (talk) 21:00, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- My character encoding converter is currently indicating that the second and fourth letters that you just typed here and are using in the article, ь, is actually the soft sign letter in Cyrillic, not the b letter in Latin. If it is suppose to be Latin b, as in Qbzbl Armies, you should also be able to move it there normally. If it really is suppose to be the soft sign ь in Cyrillic, then no such page move. Zzyzx11 (talk) 23:39, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- The Common Turkic alphabet does not use "ь". No objection to Qızıl Armies (dotless i), which appears to be the correct romanization. 162 etc. (talk) 00:46, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- This is not the Cyrillic soft sign, but the I with bowl used in Yañalif Latin script. -- Soman (talk) 09:43, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yañalif is obsolete, and it should not be used in any Wikipedia article titles. 162 etc. (talk) 17:09, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

- Orthophyia → Orthophyia longa (currently a redirect back to Orthophyia) (move · ) – page content changed, new page already exists Henrydat (talk) 17:47, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- This request was moved out of the "Requests to revert undiscussed moves" section because it does not seem to fit under that category. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:44, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Henrydat: This appears to be a genus with only one species. Per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA, we just use the genus name in the title unless there is another topic with the same name as the genus. SilverLocust 💬 14:24, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

- @Henrydat: I can see what? Plantdrew (talk) 20:00, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Name of the page is Orthophyia or Orthophyia longa? The name and data in the page are not the same. Can you help solve the problem? Henrydat (talk) 20:16, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
