- this is a photo of a newspaper page. The newspaper is clearly a commercial and copyrighted document. This has a PD license, and I don't see how that is possible, since a photo of copyrighted text contains copyrighted text, so cannot be public domain. 70.24.251.71 (talk) 04:57, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Shadi.com AhmediSeparate.JPG (delete | talk | history | logs).
- The editor wanted to use to "infer' something about what Indian matrimonal websites do. I've removed it since we don't "infer" and the editor would need a reliable source discussing such sites, not just an example. Dougweller (talk) 10:54, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Points to be noted here:
- Shadi.com is one of the leading matrimonial sites in India.
- It categorizes people by religion, castes, sects, languages, etc.
- While Hindu, Christian and other religious communities are listed with subcategories in the scroll-down menu, Ahmedis (about whom the article is based), are listed as a separate category all together.
- Similar is the case with other matrimonial sites in India.
- These sites are not maintained by Musalmans but by individuals from Hindu and other religious communities.
- Non-free status and source was already stated in the file upload. So was the article.
- I request other admins' opinion in restoring the file and the content removed from the article.

- Comment This discussion appears to be at the wrong place. This page is for discussing images marked as free which might not be free, but the image is tagged as non-free. If you want it to be removed, I suggest that you use files for deletion instead. In the meanwhile, I've tagged the image as orphaned fair use – feel free to remove that tag if the image becomes used. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:42, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Thank you for the concern you have shown with regard to the above cited file in this discussion forum. This file is marked as nonfree with the source ab initio. Our friend Dougweller has wrongly marked it for deletion and referred it to this forum unnescessarily. I request you, in your capacity as admin remove the deletion tag and also re-insert it into the article along with the removed text as such a move from my own side may amount to editwarring. Regards, Hindustanilanguage (talk) 13:16, 10 March 2012 (UTC).[reply]
- Note that I am not an admin. I am not an expert on the subject so I would prefer if someone else decides what to do here. If the topic might, as you are suggesting, be subject to editwarring, I prefer to avoid editing articles unless I am very certain that what I am doing is correct. I merely pointed out that the image was being discussed at the wrong place – I am not sure if the correct thing to do is to keep it or to delete it. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:01, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks Stefan2, I don't know what I was thinking, of course it doesn't belong here. If HIndustanilanguage thinks this is a reliable source, the place to discuss it is not here but WP:RSN. Dougweller (talk) 11:15, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- 2D sign. Covered by FoP-UK or not? British 2D rules are a bit confusing... Stefan2 (talk) 23:30, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- According to the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Photographs, graphic works, films or broadcasts of buildings and sculptures in a public place are permitted. I'd argue that this is a structure in a public place, the image of the priory is integral to the structure. In fact the image of the priory itself appears to be a bas-relief, thus qualifying as a sculpture as well. Voceditenore (talk) 14:51, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- If you read Commons:COM:FOP#United Kingdom, you'll see that there are often issues with 2D things in the UK, and this looks like a 2D item. I'm not sure if this qualifies as one of the valid 2D things. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:48, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
