I'm glad you're using edit-summaries. But likewise so do other people, and you can check an article's history to see explanations. That refutes your concern that there was no explanation for the removal. Please see WP:GNG (or more specifically WP:NBIO for most types of people or WP:NSPORT for athletes) to see the specific meaning of "notable", which might not be how you're used to using that word, and WP:V for the importance for including citations for content.
