"Palestine" in flora distributions

Hi, the now obsolete World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (WCSP) and the replacement Plants of the World Online (PoWO) use the WGSRPD scheme for plant distributions. When you see "Palestine" in such a source, as explained at Category:Flora of Palestine (region), it means Israel, including the Palestinian territories, plus Jordan. So it's wrong to link to Palestine. Two possibilities are to use the [[Palestine (region)|Palestine region]] or the [[:Category:Flora of Palestine (region)|Palestine region]]. The links were/are to State of Palestine which has now been moved to Palestine and a number of the articles are listing Israel and/or Jordan separately. Since they're using the countries it's natural to default to simply fixing the link. I leave it to others to use alternative schemes. Timrollpickering (talk) 10:23, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I still think that if you change a link which was originally wrong in its context, then it's better to change it to one that is correct. Peter coxhead (talk) 15:17, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
