Please don't tag drafts with any speedy deletion criteria in the "A" series; those apply only to articles. I deleted the draft per WP:G11.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:56, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, still getting used to the speedy deletion process. Thank you for letting me know. Beachweak (talk) 00:57, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Davide Pietro Capasso

Hello Beachweak. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Davide Pietro Capasso, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 20:53, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. At least to me, the account being made to only edit this draft and having "Davide" in the name made me think its purpose was only for self-promotion. That aside, I understand the decision. Beachweak (talk) 21:00, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Autobiographies are strongly discouraged but are not prohibited. If one were to write an autobiograohy, draft space is the correct place so it can be submitted via AFC. What has been written is just a bland profile consisting of where they go to school and their interests and hobbies. How is that promotional? -- Whpq (talk) 21:24, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
At the very least, it's unencyclopedic; the content should have went on their user page. CSD criteria for drafts has no "unencyclopedic" reason for nominating something, so I went with what was closest. I do see I was too hasty to nominate the page since it's inoffensive and a simple message would probably have fixed the problem, and I apologise for that. Beachweak (talk) 21:32, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CSD is not a shortcut to deleting stuff that you personally think should be deleted. It is a set of specific criteria decided by community consensus that allow for the bypassing of the regular deletion process. If you find yourself looking for the closest CSD because it doesn't actually meet one, then you should not be using CSD. In the case of this draft, yes it is unencyclopedic. That is why draft space exists. It is a place to work on articles to bring them into shape. Draft articles, especially when created, aren't expected to be in perfect mains space shape. The author can continue to refine the draft. If it gets refined to the point where it is accepted as an article, then great. We have a new article. If not, they are likely to give up on it, and it will be automatically tagged for WP:G13 after the requisite time has elapsed. -- Whpq (talk) 21:57, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation. That clears up a lot of other doubts I had about the CSD process, and I apologise for the hasty tagging. Beachweak (talk) 22:04, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Beachweak. I would just like to tell you that my name is LULUBEATZ and I am trying to get me and Ilanadallama (my music partner and the person I wrote this draft about) more popular and legitimate and so I've been writing our Wikipedia pages. You declined my draft very quickly, and the page is ready to be published. It's also really hard to become a popular independent artist in the United States. Please publish it. Thanks. Lulubeatzwiki (talk) 22:31, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You have a conflict of interest with the draft you wrote; Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place to promote your music. Stuff like NoCopyrightSounds, Monstercat and TuneCore exist for that very reason. 💽 LunaEclipse 💽 🌹 ⚧ (CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST) 22:39, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. Wikipedia articles are written on topics that are notable. Notability is established through citations and reliable, secondary sources that cover a topic.
I understand it is frustrating getting a draft quickly declined, however no sources are present within your article, and as such notability has not been established. If you can find multiple reliable, secondary news sources to write about you and your music partner, I'm sure a draft will be written.
Additionally, as LunaEclipse has mentioned, Wikipedia is not a place for promotion; it is an encyclopedia. For more information about notability, I suggest you check out WP:NMUSIC. Beachweak (talk) 22:41, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article Selected Ambient Works Volume II you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Selected Ambient Works Volume II and Talk:Selected Ambient Works Volume II/GA2 for issues which need to be addressed. Draft: Natural Resources Access Regulator

Hi, thank you for reviewing the draft article so quickly. I have added additional sources to the sections requested. :) Znotes (talk) 01:33, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for making the changes! I'll do a quick check over the draft and make some minor adjustments, then it should be able to get published. Beachweak (talk) 01:45, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Znotes, I've finished going through the draft. Great work! There's still a couple things that need citations which I have marked in the article. Once those are addressed, I'll go ahead and publish it. Overall though, it's a really solid draft. Beachweak (talk) 03:05, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Have added and moved references to cover those sections you marked.
One quick question about the edits you made. With the history section, I can see you've split it two based on years but I'm not sure where the 'November 2020' date has come from when you say 'From November 2020 onwards...'? I think the second date section header should be 2019 - present and this line should say 'From April 2020 onwards, NRAR was given...' Znotes (talk) 04:13, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry should say 'From April 2019 onwards' Znotes (talk) 04:14, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. Think I was tired and grabbed a wrong date from a source. Everything looks good to go and I've went ahead and published the article. Thanks for your work! Beachweak (talk) 11:23, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from HopefulTraveller (18:25, 17 January 2025)

Hello Beachweak! I've been a user of and monthly financial supporter of Wikipedia for some time and am interested in updating the info on entries concerning a celebrity friend who has two pages, with whom I work and about whom I make You Tube videos. I don't have a question right now - I'll get my thoughts together and consult you before doing anything! Thank you for being my mentor. --HopefulTraveller (talk) 18:26, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Filipenarciso (08:48, 23 January 2025)

Hi Rambley!

I would like your advice on how to create a well-structured and impactful biography based on my musical career as a public figure and electronic music artist. Could you provide tips on the key elements to include, how to highlight my achievements effectively, and any best practices for writing a professional yet engaging biography?

Thank you for your guidance!

Best regards, --Filipenarciso (talk) 08:48, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning! Welcome to Wikipedia.
The first and immediate thing you should be aware of is that creating and editing autobiographies about yourself is strongly discouraged. It's an example of conflict of interest editing. Generally, it's difficult to keep biographies about yourself both neutral, verifiable and with no original research. If you are truly notable and have been discussed in various secondary, reliable, independant sources, then an editor will most likely write an article about you themselves!
If you'd still like to go ahead and write an article, I recommend you submit it as a draft to articles for creation first. That way, an editor can review your draft to ensure notability and neutrality.
I'd recommend you also read WP:AUTO and specifically WP:YOURSELF for more information. Thank you and happy editing! Rambley (talk) 10:59, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'd like to know the history between samoa and the pacific islanders. --Taafulisia (talk) 22:28, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia.
Unfortunately I personally can't help with this; I can only answer questions about editing! I'd recommend asking your question at Wikipedia:Reference desk instead. You could also read through Samoa, History of Samoa or History of the Pacific Islands. Sorry I can't be much more help! Rambley (talk) 22:38, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please read my above response to Filipenarciso as it should answer many of your questions. TL;DR: it's strongly discouraged, it's an example of conflict of interest editing and if you're already notable then somebody will write an article on you themselves. Hello, please take a look at my recent edits and let me know if you feel I am meeting the expected standards. This feedback will help me contribute more effectively. Hope you're having a nice day, thank you! --Steven B Scott (talk) 20:58, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia!
Took a quick look at some of your edits and everything looks good. When making bold edits, edit summaries are always great to let other editors know what you've changed; and you're already doing that. Great job!
One tiny thing to note: if you're changing how a page reads, such as at Trichothecene, do not mark the edit as minor. Minor edits are for small things like fixing one or two typos, a tiny bit of grammar, etc. It's better to not mark an edit a minor if you're unsure. This is a nitpick, though.
Thank you for your contributions. Rambley (talk) 10:41, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Billbirdman (01:52, 2 February 2025)

Hello Rambley. Yes, getting started in amending a Wikapedia "stub" has been confusing. I spent several hours trying to clear up a confusing issue I encountered online, which suggested there was misinformation out there. I went to Wikapedia and concluded that an addition to a stub could clear up the confusion for others. How do I make this addition? --Billbirdman (talk) 01:52, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia.
You can edit pages by pressing the "Edit source" button at the top of any page. Some pages may be protected from editing due to consistant vandalism and may require you to have a larger edit count and to have an account for a longer period of time to edit them. Question from JSClanin (03:17, 9 February 2025)

Hello. I would like to post a definition, history, and explanation of a current musical concept known as the Paradox of Pop. In a nutshell, this refers to an inverse relationship between art and money. Or rather, the dumbing down of pop music to the lowest common denominator (IQ) in society yet it accomplishes the highest revenue for the recording label rather than elevating societies' appreciation for art. An example might be Miles Davis' "Footprints" or John Coltranes' "Impressions" versus something by Cardi B or Madonna. Just as an examples. --JSClanin (talk) 03:17, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Welcome to Wikipedia!
To start off, Wikipedia articles are made up of content that is backed up by multiple secondary, reliable sources that cover a topic in significant depth. Because of this, we do not allow original research in articles. The theory you describe seems like something that you yourself have coined; I don't think it would be a good fit for an article. Question from Ullialorellion (08:34, 11 February 2025)

Hello mentor Jack, I just created an account to correct something on a page about media I had just consumed, which I gather was how you got started too. I don't plan to become a regular editor but I like being helpful. Is there anything you'd like me to do? --Ullialorellion (talk) 08:34, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!
While mentors like me are typically more experienced editors, at the end of the day we're all just regular users with the same amount of power. If you're starting out, I'd suggest you simply go around and read articles that interest you while looking out for fixes; can you fix a bit of grammar? Maybe make some prose more readable? Fix a citation?
Eventually you might get to the point where you want to start adding content with sources to articles, creating your own articles, etc. Rambley (talk) 15:34, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ermiermi807 (19:00, 13 February 2025)

Hello, I want to create some article. I tried so many times but not approved. Can you help me? --Ermiermi807 (talk) 19:00, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Welcome to Wikipedia. I assume you're talking about Draft:Kassim mecca, so I'll give you some pointers that could help.
  • Sources. Wikipedia articles are built with multiple reliable, secondary sources that cover a topic in significant depth in order to verify claims. Sources are also required in order to show a topic is notable enough for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Your draft article has no sources cited at all; see Help:Referencing for beginners and WP:CITE for some information about this.
  • Style. Articles typically follow something called the Manual of Style (MoS) which dictates how articles should be laid out, the language they contain, etc. Reading other Wikipedia articles can also help show how the MoS should be applied.
  • Tone. The tone of a Wikipedia article is incredibly important. All articles should aim to maintain a neutral point of view (WP:NPOV) and avoid promotional or biased language.
  • AI. From reading your draft, it seems like an LLM such as ChatGPT was used to generate it. This is heavily frowned upon considering AI is known to hallucinate and write very vague statements. AI can also fabricate sources that don't exist and pretend that they do. In short, I wouldn't use it.
I'd recommend you start out small with your editing before moving onto drafting new articles; try fix some grammar or add some small amounts of content to pages to get a knack for editing! That's how I did it. Rambley (talk) 23:14, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
