David Pakman article
Please kindly enlighten me as to how it makes any sense to not list author as one of his occupations, yet include a bibliography at the end of his article. Granted, it may be a tertiary and part-time occupation, but I still see no reason to exclude it as one in the introductory paragraph. As an example comparison, Mick Foley is much better known as a professional wrestler than an author, and yet nobody bats a damned eyelash at author being included as one of his occupations in the introductory paragraph. 68.49.126.217 (talk) 06:30, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because of the external link you added, not because you described him as an author. External links don't belong in the lead section of an article, and the website you linked in your edit is already linked in the "External links" section.
- I'm not familiar with the subject and so I have no problem if you believe he should be called author in the lead. If you want to cite a source for him being an author, you can use {{cite website}}, rather than linking the URL directly, although ideally the citation should be a secondary source and not his personal website. - OK, fair enough. I did spot a secondary site (Beacon Press) with an about page for David, but I'm not sure if it's acceptable or not. There's 3 sentences in a short paragraph with an author photo credit below, which is the only mention of the word "author" there. I'd rather not have to concede defeat to the ways of Wikipedia article editing but if I must, then Que sera, sera. 68.49.126.217 (talk) 12:36, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
