Source: (Myo Nyunt Aung 2022) is an academic paper. See page 3 for double and triple encased types. See page 9 for the Nan Oo stupa encasing a smaller stupa.

Overall: @Hybernator: Nice work on the article. Although the hooks are interesting to me, I don't know if many others will understand what a stupa is at first glance. I would recommend glossing it, but I'm not sure whether to call it a "Buddhist mound", "Buddhist dome" or something else. However, it isn't strictly necessary.
