We should 100% change the image

This image on Commons was restored by me and then by Yann, and by every standard this is the better image. Not only is it color but it is higher quality with it being about 6,000 pixels. I believe that this should be the main image, but I have to discuss this on the talk page. Thoughts? Wcamp9 (talk) 16:05, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You keep making the same points that are either marginal or totally irrelevant. It needs to be reiterated that the following are not themselves compelling criteria for whether an image should be the lead illustration of a biography:
  1. Whether it is in color or black and white
  2. Its native resolution, given it is displayed in the article at thumbnail size
  3. What users have edited it or the editing work they have done
  4. What status it has beyond the internal consensus for placement in the article in question
You need to acknowledge these basic points or we can't progress any further. Remsense ‥  22:17, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK fine, but you have to let me make my points before absolutely going off and reverting my every move that I do like your monitoring me. I think ignoring these points, we can say that it really is subjective to which image is better. When I Googled Louis Armstrong images I found that there are slightly more results showing the image I want than the one that you reverted it to. But at an encyclopedic standpoint, it would be great to see an image showing the colors of one of the first popular African American entertainers. Wcamp9 (talk) 01:53, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry but you are plainly wrong when you say that the color is irrelevant. Color is certainly a defining part of the physical appearance of a person. I support replacing the lead image with the color image and oppose unnecessary black-and-white images. ―Howard🌽33 20:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Change "was an American trumpeter and vocalist. He was among the most influential figures in jazz." to "was an Black American(FBA) trumpeter and vocalist. He was among the most influential figures in jazz."  2600:8807:5840:187:4E66:41FF:FEED:161B (talk) 22:30, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: does not reflect our conventions for the lead sections of biographies. Remsense ‥  22:34, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In need of grammatical cleanup

My own English isn't top notch but even to me a lot of this reads quite clunky and doesn't flow proper in regards of appropriate level of quality for such an important page. In addition to that, several paragraphs come off as op Ed / argumentative essays that shift back and forth sentence to sentence- notably the part on writing a memoir about living with the Lithuanian Jewish family in 1907 and the lyrics of the song in it while he was recovering in hospital. Mind explicitly quoting examples you find problematic? Remsense ‥  01:55, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
