He would no longer have been titled Glenorchy at time of his military service, having already succeeded to his father's Earldom. I suspect a chronological error, as according to a regimental history of the Shropshire Yeomanry he did not enter that regiment until 1877 and was serving with them as late as 1886, as a Lieutenant. I consider the set of years already stated refer to his period in the infantry regiment. For tidiness I will move the sentence referring to his succession to the Earldom to end of previous section.Cloptonson (talk) 18:16, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
