As you'll find on the Socialist Labor Party's website,
the "arm and hammer" device -- no sickle -- was the
SLP's logo. http://www.slp.org/pdf/pdf1896/1896_may24a.pdf
(and other examples on the site). So Armand was not named
after the "hammer and sickle" because that was not the logo
that was being used when he was born in 1898.
So Armand Hammer was named after the "arm and hammer", NOT
the "hammer and sickle". I think I'll go edit it actually.
Left Shoulder and Right Hand?
This line made me go "Huh?": The arm is composed of a left shoulder and a right hand — an anatomical impossibility.
Whoa, wierd shoulder. Looks left to me, or maybe it's just a dodgy drawing. One more thing - I tried the toothpaste once, and it tasted nasty.
I agree with the guy up above, looks like a right shoulder and a right hand to me too. Since there is controversy, and no sources are cited, I am going to remove it. --Ring-Ding01:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
