Tommy Stuart was Tranmere Rovers' regular left-back between 1921 and 1927, when he made 205 appearances and scored thirteen goals. Signed from Bootle Albion, he was to become one of hte stalwarts of the early league years, even though it is said he lacked the athleticism of his contemporaries.
