Rashidat Sumbola Akande is a Nigerian economist and lecturer at Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State, Nigeria.

Akande holds a Bachelors of Science in Economics from Ajayi Crowther University, a Master of Science in Finance and Economics from the University of Southampton, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Kwara State University.^[1]

Akande's research focuses on economic growth and development, with particular emphasis on informal economies, sustainable development, unemployment, and poverty alleviation.^[2]

Akande was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) program, which enabled her to conduct research at Carleton University.
