Irvin Anneix (born 1990) is a French video artist known for his work in documentary films, web series, and video installations.

Background

Anneix's projects often focus on giving visibility to groups that may be underrepresented in mainstream media, such as seniors, teenagers, individuals from marginalized communities, and those facing discrimination.[2][3] His work addresses themes such as identity, intimacy, the body, sexuality, family history, and the transmission of knowledge. Anneix often incorporates social media in his creative process, including activities like casting, building online communities, and self-filming. While he sets the overall direction, the participants are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and perspectives.[4]

Career

One of Anneix's early projects, Mots d’ados, involved collecting stories from teenagers, which were later read aloud by other teens in a mobile recording booth that traveled around France.[5] The project was first presented at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2016. In Extra—filtres, Anneix worked with teens to encourage them to challenge stereotypes related to bodies and gender on social media.[6] In Objets — Relais, teens were asked to bring objects from their ancestors to school, sharing the stories behind them. These objects were also scanned in 3D, helping the participants connect with their family history and learn about the world around them.[7]
